Before<Surgery before>After<Surgery after (2 months)>Hi! It has now been about 2 and a half to 3 months since I had square jaw surgery. I’m extremely satisfied with the result. In the past, because of my wide square jaw, I hated taking photos and hated tying my hair up, but now my jawline looks clean, so these days I’m living for the fun of putting on makeup and taking selfies.
1. Postoperative care
Everyone. After surgery, you go to the hospital for follow-up checks, right? You absolutely have to follow exactly what the hospital tells you to do )ex. taking medication, how long to wear the compression band.. etc.) First of all, I made sure to follow exactly what the hospital told me, and even with the compression band, after all the bandages were removed, I think I kept putting it on for 30 minutes and taking it off repeatedly until about 2 to 3 weeks. And this is a tip: before surgery, it’s good to drink tea that is good for the bronchi or balloon flower root juice. I drank one balloon flower root juice before the fasting period, and after surgery my throat didn’t burn or hurt. And the most important thing! After surgery, it’s a war against swelling, right? Compresses are the most important, and you have to do them a lot. The hospital also told me to do compresses often… So when I started warm compresses, I used a lot of heat packs, and I basically lived with compresses on all day. Since I definitely did compresses often and a lot, my swelling went down quickly. Don’t forget that swelling is a war with compresses!
2. Choosing the hospital and review
I live overseas, so I wasn’t in a position to visit clinics in person. So I think I did online research for about 5 months. I really searched hard lololololol In the end, I chose this hospital as my final choice, and when choosing a hospital, I looked only for places where the director had good experience and where there was only one director. The result is extremely satisfying! Not only the director, but all the hospital staff were kind. Every time I went for follow-up visits and during consultation, they kindly answered all the questions I asked, and since this was my first surgery and first cosmetic procedure, I was really nervous, but I remember they helped me relax well too. And most importantly, the director matched the direction I wanted. During consultation, everyone! You have to clearly say the line you want and your intentions. I told the director absolutely! please do it safely, and I said I just wanted to wake up lololololol And I asked for it to look natural. Fortunately, the director and I had the same thoughts. What I remember from the consultation is that I asked for a line that suited my face well, and considering my facial features, overall atmosphere, and facial nerve lines, the director said a V-line probably wouldn’t be possible lolololol I said I didn’t mind and probably said about 5 times to just do it safely. (But I got a V-line) -The price is honestly on the expensive side compared with other hospitals. But everyone. For cosmetic surgery, especially if you are considering facial contouring, I want to say that since it’s a once-in-a-lifetime surgery, you should still go somewhere with a certain price level. I’m not saying expensive places are always good, but everything differs, from the hospital’s service to the surgery quality. OK?
3. Side effects
I don’t have any side effects yet. Also, I had one type of square jaw surgery, muscle removal, and cortical bone removal, and I have no problem opening my mouth at all. Now I can chew and eat everything from meat to beef jerky. But definitely, when I eat hard things, I can’t eat them as well as I could before surgery. Partly because I don’t want the muscles to grow again after surgery, so I try not to eat hard things if possible… Actually, since I worked hard on compresses, I think my swelling went down relatively quickly compared with other reviews, but mouth opening took some time. I think it took about 1 month to 1 and a half months. When I asked the hospital, they said I needed to keep doing compresses diligently and also do a lot of mouth-opening exercises. So I also worked hard on mouth-opening exercises lololololololol Honestly, this just needs time. If any of you are getting square jaw surgery and also need muscle resection, you have to leave mouth opening to time. Of course, you still need to do compresses and exercises, but since muscle was resected, it naturally takes longer. So I think it was from the 2-month mark that I became completely comfortable opening my mouth.
4. Final review
Even though it was only one type of square jaw surgery, facial contouring is still facial contouring, so I think some minor swelling still remains. The hospital also said it would take 6 months for the swelling to go down completely. Overall, I’m totally satisfied! And for people living overseas like me, I don’t know about other surgeries, but for facial contouring, you should plan for two months. It doesn’t end just because you have the surgery and go to the hospital for follow-up checks… It would be better to stay in Korea for two months. Even if I could turn back time, I would do it again. lolololololololol
