Nose Re-Surgery

Research, consultations, and complete removal within a week! Quick decision! Thank you, everyone~

So much happened over the past week that I do not know where to start, but I wanted to begin by thanking everyone here who shared information and commented on my post. I had my first surgery 14 years ago at a high-volume clinic, with silicone and septal cartilage used for the nasal tip. Fortunately, I lived normally for 14 years without any signs of inflammation, but suddenly my nose started hurting over the weekend...

I usually have a high pain tolerance and let things go, but this time I felt something was definitely wrong. As soon as Monday came, I called several clinics. They all recommended visiting the clinic where I had surgery first. I did not want to go, but since that was their advice, I visited it for the first time in 14 years.

They recommended several days of intravenous antibiotics and medication. (Almost every other clinic recommended immediate removal.) While receiving the antibiotics, I realized I absolutely could not have revision or removal surgery there, so I began searching intensely for information. That was when I discovered this community

For 3–4 days, I went to the original clinic for IV antibiotics, visited six clinics for intensive consultations, including three major ones, and searched for information in this community when I got home. That Friday, I paid a reservation deposit, and the next day I had emergency complete removal surgery~~

I am on my way home after having the splint removed today. It is too soon to write a proper review, but I already feel relieved and satisfied. Reviews are important, but I think understanding my own needs is even more important, especially identifying what I want to avoid. Please take this only as my personal opinion!

My septum was slightly deviated, so my nostrils were uneven. However, my columella was too weak, so I was afraid to touch it.

- One of the three major clinics recommended complete removal plus septal repositioning(?). - Another was the only one that explained, while showing me with a cotton swab, why nothing needed to be done to the septum. They said that after complete removal, the nasal tip would descend and the asymmetry would not be noticeable.

The price difference between the two clinics was over 2 million won solely because of the septum. I thought about whether I should pay an extra 2 million won to have something done to my columella... I was somewhat stressed and almost swayed. I felt I was being influenced too much, so I thought about what I most wanted to avoid.

Once I realized I wanted to avoid touching my columella because my septum was weak, I chose the latter clinic. Even without septal correction, the asymmetry has improved. Thinking that I might have paid 2 million won more is frightening. Please, let it stay this way...

This got long! I cannot write every detail, but if I have time, I will write a consultation review or surgery progress update. Thank you so, so much to everyone who commented and shared information~ I hope everyone has a successful nose surgery! (Oh! I cannot send private comments. I do not even know how, lol.)
