For my own comfort, I’m writing this in a casual, clipped style as my thoughts flow. Please understand.
Review)
An acquaintance who is an operating-room nurse at another plastic surgery clinic recommended it, so after thinking about it for a long time, I finally went. I had a consultation with Director Kim Tak-ho and decided right away. I got a strong feeling during the consultation. He calmly and carefully explained whether the areas I wanted improved could or could not be improved, and why, and he showed the before/after with Photoshop, so I could imagine what I would look like after surgery.
Because my temples were wide, I proceeded with lateral canthoplasty + cheekbone surgery to reduce the empty space. Honestly, I didn’t have high expectations for the lateral canthoplasty, but later I was satisfied when I saw that my eyes had gotten bigger.
Most of the staff are kind, but sometimes when they’re busy, the wait can be long.. In particular, the tall, slim staff member with short hair is kind.
For aftercare, they irradiate with SmartLux laser, and within 15 days after surgery, you can use it after making an advance reservation with no limit on the number of sessions.
It’s a swelling laser where you lie down for about 10–20 minutes? There’s no pain at all, and it feels like when you go to an oriental medicine clinic and they shine that red infrared lamp on you, warming your face.
Personally, I felt a big change at around 2 months and 6 months respectively. My eyes got longer, and the 45-degree angle definitely improved. (See photos.) In my case, my cheekbones weren’t protruding much more than my skull, so the side effect was greater than the front effect, so I’m attaching side photos.
*Immediately after surgery
After graduating from abalone porridge, I especially ate a lot of ox-knee soup and samgyetang-type foods. Right after surgery, mucus collected around the maxillary sinus area, and I seriously wondered if I could blow my nose and searched it up. When I asked Director Kim Tak-ho, he said I could blow it gently, so I went “hmm~” and blew it. On the first day of surgery, my cheekbones had gone in really smoothly, so I was excited thinking, “Oh, will it stay like this?” But no way, after that the swelling kept increasing.. I figured I should just eat healthy foods and relax, so I dug into Netflix and went into voluntary isolation. For walking, if I walked 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours a day, I could feel the swelling go down remarkably the next day. But I’m like the magic flute of the dog world, so whenever I went to the park, the neighborhood dogs would always follow me, which was embarrassing in front of their owners + my face was embarrassing too, so when going for walks, I always left home after sunset in the dark.
*Things I felt after surgery
1. Of course, every surgery has gains and losses, and it’s right to do it when what you gain is much greater. That gain also includes the relief in my own heart.
2. Sagging is fate - no one knows when or how it will come, and I think it’s right to say it comes to almost everyone. It depends on your basic skin/flesh quality and how hard you manage it yourself.
3. If you have enough time, I think it would be good to go on a strict diet before surgery.
4. People whose skulls near the temples are originally broad. For so-called horizontally wide faces, it’s hard to see a very dramatic effect, but even in this case, if the 45-degree cheekbone protrudes, you can see a lot of effect. Also, I think the effect would be better if you also do a surgery that brings the jaw together, such as a mini V-line.
5. After surgery, you need to recover intensely, eat a lot of good foods, sleep well, and walk like crazy for the swelling to go down well and the result to come out well.
6. I did lateral canthoplasty without thinking much about it, but the result came out so well that I was surprised. The eye director also gave high praise, saying, “As a doctor, I’m satisfied.”
For those with empty space at the temples, doing lateral canthoplasty together is effective. However, there is definitely a change in impression. It goes from spicy to gentle. If the charm of your naturally upturned eyes is important to you, NO lateral canthoplasty.
7. I slightly regret not doing mini V... I think the frontal effect would have been better.
