Usually, even with anesthesia, surgery is performed while you're not fully asleep and can be woken up easily, but if you struggle a lot or snore severely, they wake you up and anesthetize you again. But I was struggling so severely that they kept waking me up and anesthetizing me repeatedly, and eventually the risk of giving more anesthesia became too high, so they just did the surgery while I was mentally awake. I seriously almost passed out Of course, I did fall asleep here and there, so I wasn't completely awake for the entire surgery time! (If I had been fully awake, I might have died from the pain..
