I only recently found out about this community, but I thought that even a review from this long after surgery might be helpful to someone, so I’m writing one.
First of all, I had ultra-high myopia (-11 diopters) + astigmatism (2.5), so after spending half a year doing all kinds of research, searching papers, and getting examined at more than 6 clinics, I narrowed it down to this clinic and one other place.
I think it would have been okay even if I had gone to that other clinic. My younger sibling, who had similar vision, had surgery there, and their progress is similar to mine, but they don’t have night blindness.
From about 1 month to 6 months after the first surgery, my vision was around right 1.2, left 1.2, and since my original vision was extremely bad, I was prepared for it to drop again to some extent, but within 1 year it became about 0.8 / 1.0. And as a side effect, I developed night blindness, and I still haven’t gotten used to it. Still, because my eyesight was so bad, I think it was a good decision to have the surgery even taking this symptom into account.
Now, more than 10 years later, it is about right 0.7, left 0.8-0.9, though I think this may also be affected by the fact that I work overtime a lot.
The side effect might have occurred even if I had gone elsewhere, but their response when I contacted them after my vision dropped was not great. Still, I think the overall result is not bad, and after seeing me, many acquaintances around me with ultra-high myopia also went here for surgery and are living well.
