Don’t install a community app and then fail to make use of it. More than 10 years had passed since my first surgery, so it had basically become like an inner double eyelid, and one side was starting to loosen a bit too. I decided on revision surgery and looked into clinics. The recent trend was a semi-out line, so I wanted that. I searched a few famous clinics and even booked one, but the more I thought about it, it felt too much like a Gangnam beauty factory-style place, and I thought it wasn’t what I wanted. Also, I waited for surgery with someone at the representative director level, waited for hours, and the consultation was over in 3 minutes: open your eyes a few times, close them, yes/no, done. I was so disappointed .ㅍ. Second clinic: “Your eyes are so small, we need to cut them wide open.” I got scared they would make my eyes look overly artificial. Third clinic: They said I needed ptosis correction and talked about extra costs. I fell into wondering whether that was true or not.. and worried because it was going over my expected budget.. Then I came home and felt completely drained. I wanted to get it done quickly, but going around for consultations really takes so much time.. Then at a cafe, I saw someone write that while walking from the station, they walked straight into some clinic they saw, and it was a private clinic, and they had no expectations but it turned out really well, so they recommended it. After reading that, I first visited thinking, “Was this a hidden gem?” kind of like that. And I thought, the fact that it exists in this location means it must be making a lot of money, so there must be many successful patient cases. And you know how people say things like that? Double eyelid surgery is so common now that wherever you go near a station, it’ll be at least average, or so I had heard for a long time.
But.. revision surgery should not be done that way..
There weren’t any reviews on the community app. During the consultation, the doctor had a somewhat sharp appearance, so I wondered if they were someone who was good at surgery, and I went ahead. They said a semi-out line wouldn’t work but that they could do it the way I wanted. As a result, there were way too many needle holes around my eyes, and they cut the outer/lower canthoplasty too much too. After a month, it was fixed way too strongly, so everything looked bizarre, and I couldn’t get used to my appearance. The height also lowered, and like after my first surgery, the line went inward and became an inner double eyelid style. They also made my eyes uneven. .. The back was also an awkward ㄷ shape. Not a complete ㄷ shape, but not a natural V either. Every time I looked in the mirror, I was insanely stressed, and eventually I went for consultations at other clinics. Three other places said to be famous for revision surgery sided with the clinic that had done the surgery, like maybe doctors cover for each other, or maybe people protect their own.
Only one place had a consultant who immediately understood my needs and listened. Only the director there listened deeply. They said my face shouldn’t be pinched this strongly, talked about my facial structure, talked about canthoplasty, and said they could correct the asymmetry. But they said the stitches had to be removed. So I got the stitches removed right away .ㅜ But only scars were left, and above all, they had put in over 10 stitches, one by one, so intensely that even after removing them, those scars stayed the same, and even 6 months after removal, adhesions had formed. Even though I went right away after just one month.. Inside, I regretted so much going to a place with no skill. If there had been no posts about it on the community app, I should have passed on it, and I regret that. The consultant here was bad too. I was genuinely angry and acted tough, but until the end, they kept saying, “If you remove the stitches, that’s really the end. Once time passes and all the swelling goes down, you’ll change your mind,” talking total nonsense. They said things like it would be a waste of money, and while acting like they were on the patient’s side, they kept trying to discourage me. They made me write a statement saying that if I received a refund and spread the story, they would file civil and criminal lawsuits, subtly trying to scare me. Whatever. What are they going to do about the fact that my family and people around me already widely know that I had surgery here? Even though I got money back, when I think about how much my face suffered all that time, how I couldn’t sleep at night and silently agonized.. I hope everyone doesn’t go through that suffering. I got a lot of help here, so I’m writing a post too.
I prayed for time to pass, and after 6 months, I went to a new place and had it redone. They listened to my story incredibly carefully, and the consultant and director tried to do as much as they could. When I was worrying about the price, they even told me I could consult more nearby clinics and said, “Please decide carefully,” and actually sent me away. So, even though I hadn’t planned to, I came out and visited 3 more nearby clinics. There were some decent places too. But I went back and had it done at the place I had made up my mind about.
They didn’t insist on correcting the asymmetry until the very end either. They told me to decide after the surgery was done. The surgery result is extremely natural, and one side didn’t bleed, so the bruising was small too. There was little swelling as well.
When I got home, my mom said it was the best result out of everything I’d had done. The lateral canthoplasty turned out really well. It’s extremely natural. There was none of that cutting everything open and blood pouring out; it was a micro-incision. It really made me think true experts are different. The price was double, but there was a reason for it. What makes me angry is that because the previous clinic pinched so strongly with over 10 stitches, the marks created a double line, so now wherever I go, I’m someone who looks like I’ve had double eyelid surgery twice and whose surgery shows when I simply close my eyes. I don’t know why it didn’t loosen even after the stitches were removed. So when I talk to people, I can’t blink, and I keep my eyes wide open. These days, anyone gets double eyelid surgery, but still, you want it not to be obvious at first glance, you know.
I thought I would succeed when I had revision surgery too. I didn’t know I’d suffer emotionally like this, struggle for another year, and feel depressed looking in the mirror every day.
They charge double because it’s revision surgery. Sometimes even triple, so honestly, it’s such a burden.
Anyway, everyone, make good use of the community app, go to more than 6 consultations, choose carefully and then choose again, go to places across different price ranges, and even if it’s expensive, go and consult thoroughly before finding a clinic~
