Before <front> Before <side> This time, I had surgery “only” to bind the nasal tip cartilage (no support strut, no cartilage graft), and since there aren’t many reviews of cartilage binding alone, I’m writing one.
I hope it can help others looking for information about cartilage binding!

Before getting into the actual review, I’ll leave a brief personal thought about this surgery..!
While looking into cartilage binding surgery this time, I saw that there was quite a bit of debate about this procedure.
After looking up various information, I thought this surgery would have some effect on my nose,
but some clinics said cartilage binding alone has no effect at all and refused to do the surgery altogether, and some even said clinics that only do cartilage binding are just using it as a sales tactic.
Some people say it has no effect at all, and others say it makes the nose look pinched (overcorrection), so from the perspective of someone searching for information, it was really confusing..
So what I felt while looking into cartilage binding this time is that no surgery is 100% good or 100% bad.
I think you have to choose the surgery that suits you, depending on the face you were born with!
- Look up as much information as possible about the surgery itself (surgical method) - Understand well what shape your nose originally has - Visit clinics and find out how each clinic differs!
Especially in the case of cartilage binding, the surgical method itself fundamentally cannot produce a dramatic effect (because it does not increase height),
and the nose conditions that can benefit from it are limited, so I think that’s why many people say it has no effect.
I looked through almost every review posted in a community.. and nearly all the reviews posted on Naver cafes (ㄱㅇㅅ, ㅇㅇㅇ, ㅅㅇㅋ cafe, etc.),
and decided that this surgery would have some effect for me while having almost no side effects, so I chose to have the surgery!
That was a long digression,, lol Then I’ll start the real review now

1. Before-and-after difference I posted the before-and-after photos at the very top, and these are photos from day 8 after surgery!
There is still swelling, so I’ll keep watching it, but so far the result seems similar to what I expected haha
If my original nose was worth 20 points.. now it feels like it has become a 40-point nose..? ^^;;;;;; sob sob
I only wanted to correct the exact complex I had through cartilage binding, so I’m satisfied with the result from this surgery alone~!
When I look in the mirror, I wonder, is there not much of a change? but when I look at old photos, the effect is very noticeable haha..
Nasal tip - gathered to some extent, a groove in the alar area appeared Nasal bridge - no change in height, but the columella lifted Columella - surprisingly, the change was very big! The columella lifted
I was surprised that the columella lifted more than I expected I think people who originally have a short columella should think carefully about it For me, my columella was quite droopy, so the effect was good.
2. Clinic choice I chose the clinic based on these 3 criteria: surgical method / surgical experience / postoperative care!
Among these, I’ll especially share a little of what I studied about the surgical method.. I mainly studied information from the internet, so please let me know if anything is wrong!!
1) Cartilage binding method After visiting clinics, I found that each clinic pursues a slightly different surgical method.
There are two alar cartilages on the left and right sides of the nasal tip, right?
Some clinics first pinch each alar cartilage once, then bind the two cartilages together,
while other clinics do not bind each one separately and only bind the two cartilages together.
(If you’re curious about what kind of surgical method this is, you can find it by searching YouTube for plastic surgery videos related to cartilage binding. It seems like you have to go for an in-person consultation to know which method that clinic uses.)
I thought my nasal tip was quite spread out, so I chose a clinic that said they bind each one!
2) Nasal tip fat removal There were clinics that said they remove nasal tip fat while doing cartilage binding. Opinions were somewhat divided about fat removal too.
When fat is removed, the nasal tip becomes thinner vs Scar tissue may fill the empty space left after fat removal, making the nose larger later
After looking it up, I found it more convincing that there is very little removable fat layer in the nasal tip to begin with, and even if fat is removed, scar tissue inevitably forms in the empty space.. So I chose a clinic that does not remove fat.
3. Thoughts on cartilage binding surgery This is also just my personal opinion, so please use it only as reference!
First of all, cartilage binding.. seems like a surgery where the result is somewhat determined even before surgery, depending on your original nose shape.
If you’ve looked into cartilage binding a bit, you probably already know this, but for cartilage binding surgery to be effective, two things are important. 1) Skin thickness 2) Cartilage size (whether it is strong)
I think you need to fully understand that if the skin is too thick or the cartilage is small, there may be no effect, and then judge whether this is the right surgery for you. If you can’t judge by yourself whether your skin is thick or thin, or whether your cartilage is large or not, it seems best to go to clinics and receive consultations in person (I think it’s better to visit several places and hear different opinions, not just one!).
You know the so-called “butt nose,” where the nasal tip is split? A nose where the cartilage is strong but the skin is thin, so the cartilage shows through. I heard that kind of nose responds well to cartilage binding.
I didn’t have a butt nose, but my friend does, so I touched my friend’s nose and compared it with my nasal cartilage lololol The skin thickness was similar, but I could feel that my friend’s cartilage was much stronger.
And cartilage binding alone does not produce a dramatic effect.. so I think it’s good to choose the surgery while taking that into account!

That’s the end of the review! It has only been 8 days, and I don’t have a dramatic change either... But for now, my complex has improved to some extent, and I’m hoping the swelling will go down more!
For almost a month, I searched for information every single day and made what I think was a careful choice, so I’m writing this post to share information!
Compared with other nose surgeries, it isn’t a major surgery, but the nose is important because it is the center of the face.. So I think it’s best to make the best choice with as little risk as possible!
I’m very scared of things and hate regretting decisions, so I tend to approach things extremely, extremely conservatively and carefully.. So far, I’m satisfied with the result!
