Before<Before surgery>After<2 weeks after surgery, major swelling went down>After<About 1 month and 1 week after surgery>I searched a lot for information in this community, but there were especially almost no reviews on lateral nasal osteotomy, so I decided to write one.
Throughout my teens and 20s, I was dissatisfied with my appearance, but since there was no major functional problem, I wondered if I should just live with the face I was born with. Then in my 30s, because of my job, I often had to stand in front of people, and every time photos or videos were taken, I came out looking a bit unattractive, which upset me. But I was scared of surgery, scared of side effects, and thought things like, “I’m already in my 30s, what am I being greedy for?” After thinking about it for a really long time, I started researching online and going to consultations, and in the end I met a good doctor and a good hospital and got a result I’m satisfied with!
1. Rhinoplasty Originally, my nasal bones were wide to the sides, I had a slight hump on the nasal dorsum, and my nasal tip was slightly droopy and not well-defined. When I took photos, my nose would disappear, and I disliked my side profile, so I was dissatisfied with my appearance.
I got consultations at several places, but I chose the doctor whose rhinoplasty method seemed the simplest and likely to have the fewest side effects, and who explained the surgical method in detail.
My rhinoplasty method was lateral osteotomy, hump osteotomy, and insertion of ear cartilage into the nasal tip. For reference, at other places, I remember being offered these two methods: 1) Rhinoplasty with lateral osteotomy while preserving the existing hump, using costal cartilage and Medpor (Medpor used if needed) ㄷㄷ.. 2) Lateral osteotomy, hump osteotomy, ear cartilage insertion into the nasal tip, and AlloDerm insertion on the nasal dorsum
My skin is so thin that I personally had not really considered silicone insertion from the start, and I guess it looked that way to others too..ㅎㅎ
The design I was going for was a refined yet harmonious nose, and I was also quite worried about side effects, so I think I chose the director who paid the most attention to that part.. When I went for the consultation, I brought photos of BoA! lol
When I was researching online, there were a lot of skeptical comments about lateral osteotomy (if lateral osteotomy comes out asymmetric, even revision surgery can’t fix it, etc.), so I remember having a hard time asking around for a director said to be really skilled, and worrying a lot until the day of surgery..
Now that I’ve actually had osteotomy, if it’s done symmetrically and well, and you don’t get too greedy asking for it to be narrowed too much, after recovery it actually feels better and safer than implant insertion.. The best part is that I don’t have to worry about an immune reaction to foreign material. For those considering lateral osteotomy, if you meet a director with skill who has handled many cases, you don’t need to worry. This was what I most wanted to say..!
2. Facial fat grafting
I had heard that the director is also good at fat grafting, so I got a consultation for it together while consulting about my nose. As expected, it settled thinly and naturally without side effects, Originally my forehead was flat and had no volume at all, my under-eyes were sunken with pigmentation so my dark circles were severe, and I had a retruded chin and cobblestone chin. (Now that I write it out, it sounds like self-roasting;) I had fat grafting to my forehead, anterior cheeks, and chin.
After the first 2 weeks, once the major swelling went down, there was no particular inconvenience in daily life, and of course I became naturally prettier. Most of all, as the director explained, it was very surprising that my dark circles improved somewhat!
To wrap up, If you feel, like I did, that you need it yourself, I hope everyone meets a good doctor and gets good surgical results without side effects. I think there are people with concerns similar to mine, such as difficulty having revision surgery due to time constraints while working, and the cost burden if revision surgery ever becomes necessary. If your goal is to improve your appearance harmoniously without side effects, I’m sharing that there are cases like mine that succeed in one go.
