I was unhappy with my nose height, both before and after, so I had rhinoplasty for the first time this time. There was a nose shape I wanted, but the doctor said just refining the bulbous nose would be enough. I wondered if that would really work, so I was skeptical, but since it was a minimal surgery, the cost made sense, so I said okay for now and had the surgery.
The doctor said that even just correcting the bulbous nose could make enough of a difference before and after, so I had the surgery exactly as the doctor recommended, without adding anything else. I wanted to raise my nose overall, so I was wondering whether I should use autologous costal cartilage, and the doctor happened to mention autologous costal cartilage, so I went with that. There was a nose shape I wanted, and when I explained it, they said it was not the straight, linear nose that men commonly get, but more of a mix with a straight-bridge/slightly curved style. In the end, it came out well in the shape I wanted. I hoped it would not come out like a woman’s nose, and just as I wanted, it clearly looks like a man’s nose to anyone, so I like it. It has been one month now, and a lot of the swelling has gone down and the shape has settled, so I found myself thinking I should have hurried up and done it sooner. I also went for consultations at clinics that recommended several procedures, and I wonder whether I would have been this satisfied if I had gone there. Overall, I liked the shape and the doctor’s consultation, and I can’t really think of any downsides. It’s short, so I’m not sure it even counts as a review, but I think men planning to get nose surgery can use my photos as a reference.
