- The line from my first double-eyelid surgery started loosening 2 years ago, so for revision surgery, I wanted to raise the double-eyelid line and have horizontally longer eyes. So I wanted to get a clearly more open, refreshing eye shape through canthoplasty, and I said the same thing at every hospital consultation.
1. Marble Gangnam Station / no consultation fee / photos taken / waiting time 10-12 min / Director BMY -Diagnosis: non-incisional natural adhesion + epicanthoplasty + revision surgery At Marble, even though I said I wanted to change my double-eyelid line to a semi-out line, they said the best option was not to stray far from my current line and recommended natural adhesion. The director was fairly young, and he carefully shaped the line and explained things, but it wasn’t that persuasive. Rather, the consultant felt more trustworthy. The way she led the conversation and answered each of my questions seemed very professional. But booking just because of the consultant is... the surgery is done by the director, so I wasn’t drawn to it. They also did not recommend lateral canthoplasty. Since I was only diagnosed for epicanthoplasty and natural adhesion, the cost came out lower than I expected. But it wasn’t a diagnosis I was completely happy with, and the consultation time wasn’t that long either... Considering the time I spent booking, going there, and waiting... the consultation time felt a bit wasted ㅠㅠ AS period: 1 year. Anyway, I told Marble I would think about it more and left.
2. Olo Apgujeong / no consultation fee / no photos / waiting time 5 min / Director JSB -Diagnosis: incisional method + all canthoplasty + revision surgery The consultant at Olo was also very kind and gave a good consultation. When I talked about the eye shape and line I wanted, she said a semi-out line would probably be better, and first asked whether I had ever considered canthoplasty. With the consultant, I had an initial consultation about what kind of eyes I wanted, then waited about 1 minute? and went to meet the director. Unlike other hospitals where you wait in the consultation room and the director comes to you, at Olo I went directly to the director’s office. After hearing my explanation of the eyes I wanted, the director first asked whether I had any burden about an incisional method. I said I didn’t, and that as long as the surgery turns out well, that’s the best. He laughed and said that since my first surgery was done with the buried-suture method, an incisional method would probably be much better if I wanted a stronger effect. Since I had already only done double-eyelid surgery for my first surgery, I knew that if I only did double eyelids again, my eyes wouldn’t look opened up and would just have a line, so I told the director I also wanted canthoplasty. Then he said that if I wanted, he could recommend what they call all canthoplasty, combining epicanthoplasty + upper canthoplasty, but he did not pressure me, saying my eyes did not necessarily need that much. I liked the director’s skill and diagnosis, but since it was revision surgery, I didn’t book immediately so I could think more carefully. The consultation time was the longest, and there was no pressure to put down a deposit at the end. AS period: no limit. The consultant gave me her business card and asked me to contact her, and that was it.
3. Private Sinsa / no consultation fee / no photos / waiting time 15 min / Director OJY -Diagnosis: incisional double-eyelid surgery + ptosis correction + epicanthoplasty + revision surgery Private had a bit more waiting than Marble. Still, they were very kind, so I didn’t mind waiting. The consultant felt similar to Marble’s consultant. I could feel just as much experience and skill. Her way of speaking was also gentle and comfortable. I told every hospital the same eye shape I wanted. But it was kind of fascinating that the three places each gave slightly different diagnoses. The director here said my eyes absolutely did not need lateral canthoplasty. Honestly, I myself had thought lateral canthoplasty was the most important... but the director said it so firmly that I found myself nodding like, I see. They brought up not only double-eyelid surgery but also ptosis correction. Honestly, ptosis correction was something I hadn’t considered at all, so I just kind of scratched my head and let it pass... I had no choice but to hear the cost as a combined total. AS period: 1 year. Because the diagnosis included a lot, Private was the most expensive. Also, Private somehow had a lot of people, consultations seemed backed up, and it felt like their surgery schedule was also very packed. That might be proof that they’re popular... but I also wondered a little, is it okay to entrust my eyes here too? Overall, the consultation was good, but I wasn’t strongly drawn to it. More than anything, I think it was because the diagnosis differed a lot from what I had expected. Here too, there was no pressure to book; they gave me a business card and that was it.
Common points among the three hospitals 1. Additional fee for revision surgery - since it’s revision surgery, I guess it can’t be helped, but honestly, with several hundred thousand won added, it feels a bit wasteful.. ㅠㅠ 2. Epicanthoplasty
Cost Private > Olo > Marble Diagnosis, professionalism Olo > Private > Marble
This was the order I liked them in. Since it’s revision surgery, I don’t plan to stop at three places and will visit a few more. Previously, I went to a consultation at OOD and, without knowing much, put down a deposit right away, but after listening to my friend, I came to my senses and am looking into it again.
