The biggest reason I had revision surgery was that the implants that had been fine for 12 years ruptured (for me, only the right side had ruptured). I haven’t experienced capsular contracture, so I don’t know exactly, but they say rupture is even harder to notice visually and often has no pain, so you usually can’t detect it on your own.. I also found out after an ultrasound checkup.
Even if only one side had ruptured, I couldn’t just switch only the right breast to a different implant.. Since I wasn’t going to give up on my breasts anyway, I wanted to get everything revised this time and improve the asymmetry too, so I found a hospital specializing in breast cosmetic surgery and had revision surgery there. This is where one thing I regretted came up..ㅎ
Honestly, I don’t remember my first surgery very well, since it was more than 10 years ago.. But the difference I could still recognize was that the first place wasn’t somewhere like this, where they professionally checked everything about the breasts and took responsibility for aftercare tooㅋ I was in my early 20s and was just satisfied that my breasts had gotten bigger.. I used to think that once a hospital performed the surgery, that was the end of it. But after receiving all kinds of postoperative care at MD, I realized that wasn’t the case. I think this is where I learned that professional care after surgery is also necessary.
Maybe because of that, even though the size got a little smaller after revision surgery, they still look plenty full and pretty! The asymmetry that was very obvious when I took off my bra was completely corrected too, and the director said my breasts were uneven, so this part needed to be corrected well. Since the same size implants had been used during my first surgery, I had felt kind of hmm.. but after surgery, that feeling changed into certainty haha. I guess you really can’t ignore experience.
Another thing I regret is that when I was younger, I was so focused on money, money, money that I tried to find somewhere relatively cheap for surgery.. ㅎㅋ I do rationalize it by saying, “It couldn’t be helped back then~” but now, 12 years later, I think places that do it cheaply have their reasons. You know those factory-style hospitals? The hospital increases patient volume, the patient likes it because it’s cheap.. and then they don’t care about management or aftercare ㅠㅠ
But the place where I had my revision wasn’t factory-style, so I liked it even more. They charge the proper price for the implants, and the director personally does the 1:1 consultation and even the follow-up checks. Honestly, he has over 20 years of experience, so there’s no need for him to lower prices just to build experience or increase surgical case numbers. It does feel a bit unfair that I only realized this now after revision surgery~~ There wasn’t anyone around me to tell me, and I also didn’t look into it properly, so that’s how it happened. Still, I feel like I finally had surgery done properly after 12 years haha... I’m writing this hoping that everyone else here will find the right hospital and succeed from their first surgery!! I hope everyone sets good standards and achieves safe, pretty, satisfying breast augmentation!! It’ll turn out beautifully!! Fighting~!!!
