It’s the second day after my eye surgery ㅠ After also having anterior canthoplasty, eye discharge is no joke, and since I did revision double-eyelid surgery again, I just thought, “I’m probably going to have to endure this again.”
I wrote down notes in my notebook while I was half-awake and dazed after surgery, so I’ll leave the review as it is. I got a lot of information from the community, so it keeps coming in. I’ll write again later. I’m also planning facial contouring... I won’t upload photos.
2:20 PM: arrived, prepared, and waited. Around 4 PM: design. Surgery ended at 6:30 PM. I left the hospital a little after 7 PM.
The cost was roughly 2.7 million KRW. The reason for doing the incision was because there is a lot of tissue around the eyes!
When we did the design, I brought photos, drew where I wanted it changed, included sample photos, and also brought photos of shapes I didn’t want. I clearly explained what eye shape I wanted. The surgeon understood everything when I explained in detail. He explained what was possible and what was not from my desired shape, and said he would apply my preferences to make it natural and suited to my eye shape.
During surgery, because of setting the eye shape, there were many open-close movements. Since the surgeon was there the whole time, there was no worry about a “ghost doctor” issue (with eye surgery, that’s just normal, right? ). But opening my eyes during surgery was so hard; they really would not open ㅠ He said I would probably have to open my eyes even more because of the anterior canthoplasty. Since I was under sedation, it felt like I was receiving surgery while dreaming.
I saw reviews saying the surgeon is kind of scary and touchy, but I felt communication went pretty well. During design he seemed a bit strict, but if I followed him, he didn’t say much.
I worried that communication might be bad during design, but it went smoothly and I felt really relieved.
Instead, during surgery he told me to open my eyes, but because I was in a sleepy state, he got a bit irritated and said they might become uneven. Before surgery, including consultation, there was long waiting and I was anxious because communication with the assistant didn’t feel smooth. But on surgery day, communication went very well and it was even fun.
If you have detailed lines you want, I think it was good that I told the assistant clearly in advance instead of waiting to explain them while designing with the surgeon. The assistant emphasized it to the surgeon, and communication seemed even smoother.
Up to here is my review of the surgery day. As a general tip, regardless of the hospital: If you pre-draw what you want your eyes to look like, what you hate, and how much you want to lift/tilt, communication seems to work better. Before design, I organized photos in my preferred order and said everything I wanted to say, and the surgeon clearly understood. That gave me confidence that it would turn out well without regret... I hope this helps people who are planning surgery!
I was told that for revision surgery, swelling can appear starting about one month later, so I think I can only know the final eye shape after a few months ㅠ Since it’s a race against time, I hope time passes quickly.
