<Reason> I had two-jaw surgery at the dental clinic where I had received orthodontic treatment. The reason was that I had a slightly protruding lower jaw, and because of my jaw, my lower face looked long compared with my upper and midface, which stressed me out, so I decided to do it.
<Immediately After Surgery> I was worried because people said it would hurt a lot after surgery, but for me, it did not hurt at all. I do not know whether the pain-control injection worked well for me, or whether the doctor performed the surgery in a way that made it less painful. I remember that at the time, the doctor and nurses looked surprised when I said it did not hurt. They say people usually cry from the pain for about two to three days. But I really had no pain at all. Before the surgery, when they inserted what I think was a urinary catheter, that hurtㅠㅠ I just had trouble breathing because of blood crusts(?) after surgery, so I could not sleep well, but the next day the doctor removed them with suction, and after that I slept well.
<Swelling> The major swelling went down in about a month, and I think the minor swelling took around 2 to 3 months. I remember sleeping sitting up with ice packs on my face for several weeks at the time.
<Current> As for people around me after the surgery, 2 out of 10 asked if I had lost weight, but the rest only noticed after I told them. I think it is because my protruding lower jaw was not severe, and my jaw length is almost the same. What is disappointing is that the protruding lower jaw improved, but the long chin is almost the same...ㅠㅠ Also, when I lift my head, there is a slight contour irregularity, so it bothers me, and the sensation in the gum of my upper front teeth is somewhat dull. Except for that area, the rest of the sensation is the same as before surgery and I can feel it well. I do not think I have pain or skin sagging. I can also eat hard foods pretty well.
<Summary> There was no pain after surgery, and the protruding lower jaw improved, but it is disappointing that the jaw length is almost the same. There is a slight contour irregularity around the jaw, and the sensation in the gum of the upper front teeth is dull, but everything else is the same as before surgery.
