I’m sharing my own contouring experience here, hoping it helps anyone preparing for surgery even a little
Maybe because I’m a nurse, I chose a hospital with safety as the top priority, rather than one focused on making the lines come out beautifully and the face perfectly symmetrical. I didn’t need a drastically smaller face; I just wanted the outline cleaned up a bit. So I ruled out hospitals that chase huge before-and-after changes in their review photos, ignore risk and safety, shave too much, use the hospital for promotion, and later just make irresponsible claims that everything will be fine again, leaving the side effects entirely for the patient to bear After a lot of consideration, I had surgery at the hospital I chose, and the results were perfect in every way. Safety plus a pretty face shape! Ah! It’s not perfectly symmetrical. The symmetry seems a little off From the start, my face had severe asymmetry, so the doctor said perfect symmetry wouldn’t be possible, but that he would do his best to align it as much as possible I think I trusted him more because he clearly said what could and could not be done I also liked that he only does one surgery a day I really liked the idea of giving one person his full best effort in the best condition After surgery, he showed me the CT scan and explained again the difference between the left and right jaw, saying that he performed the surgery this way, so the right and left jaw could be a little different, especially since I was the one who had surgery, so it was natural to look at it more closely. He also said that because of that, the difference can feel more noticeable and may look that way, but he had done his best to match them, and if you don’t look closely, no one would notice Because I had already been told before surgery that it couldn’t be made perfect, I didn’t expect much, but the result is really, heh, thank you so much^^..❤️
On the day of surgery, I wasn’t in much pain, but I felt so nauseated that I vomited, it was no joke ㅠㅠ Up to that point, that was the most painful part for me I went into surgery at 9 a.m., came out with two drainage bags attached, didn’t stay hospitalized, had the drainage bags removed at 6 p.m., and went home. That day, maybe because of the anesthesia, I slept so dazedly that I didn’t even realize whether sleeping while sitting was uncomfortable!!,,..!!! From dawn, my face hurt like I had been hit by a car, no, like I had been stepped on by a freight truck Of course, some of the pain was just from the surgery itself, but the swelling in my face was so severe that the pain from the swelling was really bad for me.. I had also had my eyes and nose done before, and I had never been in pain even once.. I never bruised and never had swelling, always,, I thought maybe I was built for plastic surgery I thought contouring would be just as easy, but until around day 5 I was in so much pain and so swollen that I wondered what on earth I had done.. I regretted it so much, thinking I shouldn’t have done it.. I had a square jaw, prominent cheekbones, a peanut-shaped face, a long chin, and was really a case that needed it, and after worrying for 30 years I decided, let’s do it..! Yes, let’s stop spending the rest of my life with a narrow face like everyone else, tying my hair back, sweeping it behind my ears with confidence, and doing the flower-hand pose every time I take a photo! Even so, with the pain and swelling being so severe, it was really hard and I did regret it
Besides the medicine prescribed by the hospital, taking extra Tylenol helped with the pain a bit,, For anyone planning to have surgery, definitely prepare Tylenol,, Even porridge and liquid foods wouldn’t go down because my throat hurt so much.. After day 5, the pain decreased and I started eating well, beginning with porridge I also kept up with brushing using a baby toothbrush + baby toothpaste + baby mouthwash Honestly, after day 5 the only difficult things were the numbness from the front chin and from both outer eye corners to the side lines of the cheekbones, difficulty opening my mouth, and not being able to eat what I wanted; otherwise there wasn’t anything especially hard
On day 7, they removed the stitches near the sideburns and it didn’t hurt at all I mostly ate porridge or ramen that I could swallow without chewing much They said I could eat normal meals, but the stitches kept getting chewed on, which was uncomfortable, and even after rinsing, it seemed like they wouldn’t come out 100%, so I didn’t want to chew anything, honestly I could shower and wash my hair, and I wore the face compression band for 1 hour, then took it off for 1 hour, and repeated that
I went to work on day 9 and did well. My face was still a bit swollen, but..! If I wore a mask, it was basically not noticeable????? The swelling was only in the lower part, hehe I’m a nurse, so even with shift work I managed fine I talked with patients just fine, and when giving handover I had to talk to myself for about an hour, which was also possible without issue At the hospital where I had surgery, they said that after about 7 days some callus has formed, so speaking within a reasonable limit may actually be helpful for rehabilitation purposes After talking, the square-jaw area felt a little heavy and achy, but because I had been talking a lot, there was no slurring or discomfort in speaking My mouth shape feels a bit awkward, and the front chin is still numb..!
Yesterday was day 14 and I went to get the stitches inside my mouth removed...it really hurtㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ They numbed it a little with lidocaine mouth rinse and then pulled them out, but it hurt as if it hadn’t been numbed at all. Cold sweat broke out About 3 hours after removal, I ate ramen + curry rice, and food got stuck a lot, so it was still uncomfortable and unpleasant, but once the stitches were gone, I ate and rinsed and everything came out..! I heard the swelling goes down noticeably after the stitches are removed, so I’m looking forward to it hehe
The swelling is gradually going down, but both sides don’t go down evenly; one day the left side is more swollen, another day the right side is more swollen, and it keeps repeating while slowly improving I saw advice from senior(?) community members that stressing about it deeply would only make me more stressed, so I stopped worrying and it really didn’t stress me out!! People around me, including family + friends + my boyfriend, said I looked like I’d been reborn and that it turned out really well, asking why I didn’t do it sooner Even with the swelling still there, my satisfaction is through the roof
Now I have one question for the senior(?) community members here!!..ㅠㅠ When did you all start smoking?..... I had surgery on my face and inside my mouth, so it feels dirty and I haven’t smoked yet It’s hard to hold back.. Even when I had my nose done, I smoked a regular cigarette on day 7 right away.. But I’m a bit scared to do it after contouringㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ When did you all start smoking? Is it okay to use a heat-not-burn device...!ㅠㅠ
