I’m leaving a review 6 weeks after safely completing my first eye surgery in middle age (sub-brow lift + natural adhesion double eyelid surgery), which plastic surgery directors supposedly find even more intimidating than revision or multiple revision surgeries. I originally had large eyes and double eyelids, so I thought I would never have to worry about cosmetic surgery in my life. But starting a few years ago, my eyelids began to droop, covering my double eyelids and even pressing down on my eyelashes ㅠㅠ For about 5 years, I kept researching online and visiting clinics in person, then getting scared and letting it fizzle out several times, But this fall, I finally finished the surgery, and now I’m feeling relieved while waiting for things to look even more natural.
The clinics I ultimately visited in person this time were a large hospital near Sinnonhyeon Station and a one-doctor clinic specializing in eyes near Sinsa Station. After much thought, the biggest reasons I chose the one-doctor clinic iFit near Sinsa Station were that the director took enough time during the consultation, examined me carefully, and explained everything in detail, which made me trust them, and that there was absolutely no overtreatment. Other clinics all recommended doing lower eyelid fat repositioning together, but this clinic said it would be a waste to do it now and told me to do it later. Other factors also matched the conditions I had in mind, such as it being a private clinic with a lower risk of proxy surgery, CCTV footage being available for later disclosure upon request (large hospitals charge an additional fee), unlimited swelling laser treatments (large hospitals offered 1 session), and the period during which AS revision surgery could be received being 2 years (large hospitals offered 1 year). Because my eyelids were drooping, I decided to get a sub-brow lift, and since my double eyelids were asymmetric on both sides, I decided to use natural adhesion to match my right double eyelid to my left double eyelid.
From the evening of the surgery day, the area around my eyes was covered in red and blue bruising, and the swelling was so severe for several days that I felt anxious. But during the three swelling laser treatments, the director stopped by twice to check my progress and told me the surgery had gone well and not to worry, which honestly gave me so much strength.
When I was researching online before surgery, there were relatively few reviews of eye surgery in middle age, and even among those, many were written by daughters about their mothers’ surgeries, so I’m leaving this review in hopes that it will help middle-aged people even a little. Honestly, given my age, I didn’t become dramatically beautiful like in the reviews from people in their 20s and 30s, and I don’t think that would be possible. Still, the eyelids that had been covering my field of vision have been lifted cleanly, and I’ll have less need to raise my eyebrows to open my eyes, so I’m free from pseudoptosis. If you think surgery is truly necessary, I think it may be worth gathering your courage and trying it at least once.
