Phew, 12 years ago, I had rhinoplasty at one of the clinics that was advertising heavily around Gangnam Station. When I went, there were a lot of people, and it was a system where patients went in one after another. The operating room wasn’t for one person. Back then, in one large space, there were about 4 beds lined up, and it felt like being put up there like fish on a cutting board. It’s unimaginable now, but that’s how it was back then. There were several doctors too, and I couldn’t tell who was doing my surgery. They may have been going around doing this patient and that patient. After I had my nose done there, as soon as the splint was removed, my nasal bridge turned red, and the nasal tip had been fixed downward like Squidward, so I looked like a red-nosed proboscis monkey. This was not the work of a proper doctor. So I raised the issue right away, and around two or three months later, they told me to add 400,000 won because they would replace the silicone and use donated costal cartilage for the nasal tip. So I said the rhinoplasty itself had been done wrong, so why should I have to pay? Then they said okay, they would do it.. And I had it corrected once again, and 12 years have passed since then..
The reason I’m saying this is that my nasal tip had dropped a lot, so I thought I needed to have it fixed again, and while getting consultations for revision surgery, I went to 3 places. I was shocked as soon as they took the CT. There was L-shaped silicone in my nose. I was truly speechless and dumbfounded. And what’s more, that Gangnam Station clinic is still operating. When I looked it up, I saw that someone else besides me also found out that L-shaped silicone had been put in without them knowing... Seriously shocking.
And among the places where I had consultations, I recently had surgery at one of them, and after it ended, I was in the recovery room when the director came in and said that the internal condition of my nose was very damaged, and that mesh? or meshi, something like that, had also been inside... They said it was close to reconstructive surgery.. Second shock lol. To think there was a material inside my nose that even I didn’t know about, ha I can’t believe people like this are still doing business. Thankfully, it seems they aren’t mentioned much these days, but anyway, that place was a factory-style clinic, and after that surgery, I never go to factory-style clinics.
I’m about 2 weeks post-op now, and I had it done at RST by Director R. They showed me the residual material from that surgery and photos while explaining everything.. The nose shape came out well, and there is still swelling. I really think I was lucky, because if I had gone to a doctor who only cared about money and shortening the time, they probably would have just thought, “What is this?” done it roughly, and closed it up... ㅠ
I plan to post a review separately, but honestly, after surgery you end up not writing these things.. So I’m posting this in advance to tell people who had surgery a long time ago to get a CT and check at least once..
I’m just grateful that my nose was safely restored this time. Those who had rhinoplasty a long time ago, please make sure to get checked... I really didn’t know for 12 years. Those damn bastards..
