It’s been over a year since my revision revision revision rhinoplasty. I had my first surgery over 10 years ago, and my nose gradually became upturned until it eventually became short and upturned. Last year I had some free time, so I thought I should get nose surgery. I went to the place where my friend had surgery, got a CT scan and consultation, and somehow ended up having surgery right away. (Director Oh Seung-il at VN)
The director suggested removing the silicone, but my nasal bridge is really low ㅠ So I asked if the silicone could be replaced, and asked for the bridge to be built up a bit. Since I was worried about absorption of donated costal cartilage, I decided to reconstruct the entire nasal tip with autologous costal cartilage. The pain from the autologous costal cartilage was less than I expected (mini autologous costal cartilage?), but I still remember how hard it was having cotton packing in my nose.
Good points: When I was curious and anxious about the nose shape, they first showed me photos taken in the operating room, which made me feel a bit more reassured. I went in for treatment very often, and each time the director checked on me. I think I went about five times until the autologous costal cartilage stitches were removed?
Disappointing points: There was a bit of a wait when going in for treatment. Since the director personally checked me, I also felt that was understandable. Also, the director’s style is not the kind that says, “The surgery went really well. Don’t worry,” to reassure you. His routine is, “We can’t feel reassured yet. You need to recover well.”
At 1 month, I had nasal tip inflammation? It was a bit red, but I took medicine then too and got through it fine. At 2 months, there was slight suspicion of nasal bridge inflammation, so I got an injection and took medicine.
Now that a little over a year has passed, I’m generally quite satisfied. But even when I went for a recent follow-up, the director said, now that it’s been 1 year, I can feel reassured and live normally, while also telling me to be careful with my nose and come in if anything happens. Haha I think he’s right. Who can really guarantee that there will be no problems after plastic surgery?
Disappointing points: The nose line looks a bit different from the left and right sides. Slight nostril asymmetry. The autologous costal cartilage scar protrudes slightly. It settled down after injections, but it hasn’t disappeared.
