Cheekbone Surgery Reviews

Review of facial contouring surgery (about 2.5 years later)

A long time ago, I worked hard to get information here and ended up getting surgery, so I thought I should give back as much as I received and leave a review.

In my case, my square jaw was very severe (when I measured my chin tip with a ruler, it was about 6 cm), and the rest was not especially strange, so I initially went for a consultation thinking I would get long-curve square jaw surgery. After the consultation, I had an X-ray? or something taken, and the doctor said that because my square jaw was severe, I seemed like a case that would see a good effect from surgery (it was so long ago that I don’t remember well). They also said my anterior chin protruded slightly, so a T-osteotomy? might also be good to do. I was scared of surgery, and square jaw surgery just involves shaving bone, but I heard T-osteotomy involves putting in pins? or something, so I decided to do only the square jaw surgery.

So in total, I had long-curve square jaw surgery, cortical bone osteotomy, and muscle removal? (there is a name for it, but I don’t remember) like that.

In my case, I was an ordinary office worker. I took 2 weeks of vacation and got the surgery. There was some embarrassment(?) about whether people around me would notice, but my complex was worse, so I went ahead thinking, whether they notice or not, I’ll just go my own way.

Right after the surgery, I don’t really remember pain (I’m originally on the insensitive side), but breathing was very difficult, and it felt like something was caught between my nose and mouth, which bothered me a lot. So during the one day I was hospitalized, I think I barely slept.

The next day when I got home and looked, my face was very swollen (I’m someone whose face had never really swollen in my life, so it was a little fascinating), so I was a bit worried whether the swelling would go down within 2 weeks. But as expected, after 1 week, all the severe swelling went down. (I think constitution probably plays a very big role.) As for eating, from day 3 I think it was more or less manageable, but putting a spoon in was a little difficult. And because they do it by incising the gum, there were stitches there, and food got stuck, so it was a bit troublesome.

After 2 weeks, I could live almost normally, and eating was a little uncomfortable for me, but to other people it looked like there was nothing particularly wrong.

As for the effect, I was very satisfied even when I saw it right after having it done. My complex had been that severe. But what was a little funny was when I first went to the hospital for what they call a swelling massage? and the nurse actually said, “It doesn’t seem that much different?” which made me laugh a little. Anyway, in my case, I was very satisfied, and after about 1 month at work, people didn’t really say anything, but it felt like everyone had noticed. Oh right, for the shaving, they shaved leaving about 1-2 cm of the mandibular angle under the jaw.

Currently I’m living very satisfied. (I don’t know if it’s because I was lucky, but so far I haven’t had side effects or anything like that.) My self-esteem has also gone up a lot, so I think it’s good (though I’ll probably never have any other surgery). However, after muscle removal, I could feel that it was gone, but now it has all come back. I don’t think it has much meaning I don’t want to casually recommend it to other people, but for people like me who have a severe complex and who anyone would think look unusual, I personally think doing this can be a good option.

That’s all!
