It’s been over a year since I had revision nose surgery after multiple previous surgeries. I had my first surgery over 10 years ago, and my nose gradually turned upward until it eventually became short and upturned. Last year I had some free time, so I thought I should get nose surgery. I went to the place where my friend had surgery, got a CT scan and consultation, and somehow ended up having surgery right away. (VN, Director Oh Seung-il)
The director suggested removing the silicone implant, but my nasal bridge is really low ㅠ So I asked whether the silicone could be replaced, and asked them to create a slight bridge. I was worried about absorption of donated costal cartilage, so I decided to reconstruct the whole nasal tip with autologous costal cartilage. The autologous costal cartilage pain was less than I expected (mini autologous costal cartilage?), but I still remember how hard it was having cotton packing in my nose.
What was good: When I was curious and anxious about the nose shape, they first showed me photos taken in the operating room, so I felt more reassured. I went in for treatment very often, and the director checked me every time. I think I went about five times until the autologous costal cartilage stitches were removed?
What was disappointing: There was a bit of a wait when I went for treatment. Since the director personally examined me, I felt like it was understandable. Also, the director’s style is not the type to reassure you by saying, “The surgery went really well. Don’t worry.” His routine is, “We can’t be reassured yet. You need to recover well.”
At 1 month, I had nasal tip inflammation? It was a bit red, but I took medication then and got through it well. At 2 months, nasal bridge inflammation was slightly suspected, so I got an injection and took medication.
Now, a little over a year later, I’m quite satisfied overall. But even when I recently went for a follow-up, the director said that since it’s been a year now I can live more at ease, while also saying to be careful with my nose and come in if anything happens. Haha I think he’s right. Who can really guarantee there will be no issues at all after plastic surgery?
What I’m not fully satisfied with: The nose line looks a bit different from the left and right sides. Slight nostril asymmetry. The autologous costal cartilage scar protrudes a bit. It did settle down after an injection, but it hasn’t disappeared.
