So even from the front, the upturned-nose look is gone. >Hello. For 9 months, day and night, actually almost all day long, I only looked at this community, so after removal I couldn’t not write a post here. I received a lot of information, so I’m writing this thinking I might be helpful too.
First, I had Hiko procedures (filler + threads) twice and lived very satisfied with them, but because of COVID, I had more time to take a longer break, and I started thinking I wanted nose surgery that could be permanent, not filler. So I searched on an app, made a reservation at the first hospital I went to for a consultation, and had surgery right away the next day.. Back then, I didn’t know. I think I was actually excited, thinking that after sleeping briefly and waking up, my nose would be pretty.
Even while I still had the splint on, my boyfriend looked at the slightly visible columella area and asked if my nose was too high, but at that time I actually got angry and said no, this is all swelling. That’s what I said.
But when the splint was removed and I saw myself, the nasal bridge was swollen to an absolutely unbelievable degree. I had seen a lot of review photos from other people who had nose surgery, but unlike that kind of swelling, mine was extremely severe. Thinking about it now, I think that was the first early symptom of inflammation. At the time, it was right after splint removal, so inflammation didn’t even occur to me. I thought it was all swelling, and I thought it would be fine after a few months.
One month after rhinoplasty, as the swelling of the nasal bridge got better, the nasal tip actually looked more upturned. Within a week after I first noticed it, the nasal tip clearly felt lifted, and when I took photos and videos and looked at them, the shape of my nose was ridiculous. It was different from the noses of friends around me who had rhinoplasty. The feeling itself was different.
My original nose had a low bridge and was a short nose, but because I had filler injected all the way to the nasal tip, it was in a droopy state. The columella had also come down enough.
First rhinoplasty: silicone 2.5 + ear cartilage for the nasal tip + ear cartilage strut This is the surgery I had, but maybe because they did excessive manipulation on my naturally very small, round baby-like nose, the nasal tip became extremely high and the nose looked upturned. At a glance, it was an upturned nose. Not once after surgery did I like my nose. Every day, I couldn’t sleep and read this community countless times. For about 9 months. My insomnia got so severe that daily life became impossible, I was sleeping once every two days, and as soon as I woke up I immediately looked into removal again,,
What’s certain is that right after surgery I instinctively felt my nose was strange, and I was firm about removal, not wanting revision surgery.
My nose was upturned, one nostril was pinched, cartilage was protruding inside the left nostril, the ear cartilage showed through, the silicone was bent to the right, and the strut was also bent so badly that I could feel it at the floor of one nostril.
Experiencing each of these side effects, I cried every night. Why was I greedy? Why did I do that? I blamed myself, my self-esteem hit rock bottom, and I didn’t meet friends either.
Because of that, my boyfriend and family had to listen to my worries, and the people around me had an extremely hard time too, just like I did,, When I first brought up removal, everyone stopped me, and later they got exhausted and said I should get it removed now.. They said maybe that seemed right.
I wanted to get it removed right after completing 6 months, but my nose was as hard as stone, so I waited, planning to remove it once the skin softened a little more.
Anyway, I endured those long, long 9 months and finally got it removed. I feel so relieved, and after removal everything is good. Everything. The pain in my nasal bridge. The pinching of my right nostril. The ear cartilage protruding inside my nose. Everything has gotten better. After actually getting removal, I understand what people mean when they say the nose feels light. That hard nose became soft after removal.
When I first had nose surgery, there was little bleeding so I didn’t have nasal packing. After removal, because of the nasal packing, I had to breathe only through my mouth, so my mouth got extremely dry and I woke up several times while sleeping. That was the hardest part. (A humidifier + water while sleeping are essential.)
Silicone + ear cartilage + ear cartilage strut (capsule removal yes, cartilage repositioning yes) The surgery removed the capsule completely and cleanly, and it took longer than I expected. I think it took a little over two hours.
After surgery, the director came and explained the surgical process. There was also contraction, and unusually, the silicone had been inserted very long, all the way to the nasal tip..... So I guess that’s why the nasal tip was even harder.
The ear cartilage at the nasal tip was all crushed from being pressed by the silicone, and the capsule was quite thick too. Looking at the removed ear cartilage strut, I thought it made sense that my nose had lifted. Now, no matter how much I touch the floor around the columella area, it’s soft, and the foreign-body sensation from the strut is completely gone.
No swelling on the day of surgery. They told me that because the dissection was wide due to contraction of the nasal bridge, my eyes would swell a lot, and to ice well, so until the day I went to have the nasal packing removed, I stayed home all day and just iced it. On days 2-3, I swelled up a lot and my face was really square.. But what was amazing was that I didn’t bruise at all. After the major swelling passed, everything after that was easy.
It didn’t hurt when the nasal packing was removed, and removing the stitches from the columella didn’t hurt at all either. From when I had the splint on, I could feel that my nasal bridge had lowered, so maybe because of that, when the splint was removed it came right off quickly..? ㅋㅋㅋ
Now my nose bridge had no silicone and no filler, so I went in bracing myself, but the moment I saw it, it felt like my nasal bridge had been trampled. The nasal tip cherry tomato, the sense of loss of the nasal bridge, and so on, I immediately understood what those expressions in other people’s reviews meant.
But you know what. I don’t regret it. Rather, I think removal was the best choice I made. The fact that my nose doesn’t hurt at all anymore, and that the nasal tip that had lifted upward has come down. Just those things alone make me so deeply moved.
I’m grateful to the doctor who performed the removal well, and I feel sorry and thankful to my nose for enduring all those intense procedures and surgeriesㅠㅠ

As soon as they touched my nose, they firmly said it was contraction and that full removal was absolutely not possible. The moment it was taken out, the area that the silicone had at least been holding up would lose support, and with a stronger pulling force, the nose would lift upward. So now was not the stage to think about removal, and I absolutely had to go into revision surgery.... They said they would operate by using ear cartilage + septal cartilage to lower the nose. They showed me several before-and-after photos of shapes similar to my nose, but they scared me so much, saying my nose would lift wildly...... Unlike reviews saying they get angry if you ask many questions or don’t understand during consultation??? It was a very good consultation. They drew pictures on A4 paper and explained each thing one by one, saying the surgery was done like this, so now this part became like this. If you understand the cause well, the solution is easy. So conversely, to return it to the original state, the surgery should be done like this. They explained it in a way that was very easy to understand. When I asked if my nose was contracted, they said that actually, if you compare all the photos from the first photo until now and the nose appears to be lifting, that is contraction. In my case, my nose looked lifted right after surgery, and they said either it had been designed that way from the beginning or, seeing how hard the nose was, there might be some unknown material inside. They said that the pinched nostril on one side would absolutely not return with removal alone. Since the already-bent nasal ala cannot return to the original state after removal, they said ear cartilage should be used for cartilage grafting. They told me several times that the nostrils make up a large part of the impression, so the pinched area needed to be improved. At this part, it was fascinating and relieving because they pointed out all the problems I had been thinking about. Full removal + additionally harvest ear cartilage and graft it into the nasal ala.

When doing removal, the capsule especially has to be removed well, and I thought this place seemed to remove the entire capsule well, rather than cutting it into pieces. In the actual consultation with the director, they were very confident and said they could remove it well, so I trusted them!! They said the cartilage protruding inside my nose and the pinched nostril might not become completely okay. They said if I wanted shape, then revision surgery, and if I wanted to escape the foreign-body sensation and side effects, full removal was the right choice. They said if it is removed well, it returns to the shape of the original nose. Full removal + capsule removal + cartilage repositioning (Not returning 100% to the original nose, but repositioning the cartilage again to make it as close as possible to the original nose)
Even I, who had many side effects + a contracted nose, got it removed well, and although it has only been 11 days since removal, right now my nose is fine. I was prescribed one month’s worth of anti-contraction medication and am taking it, and when the contraction phase comes after a month, the shape may change, but right now I’m very satisfied.
Especially those who have contraction, please decide carefully. It may differ by case, but revision surgery may not be the only answer.
