Eye Side Effects@eye-sideeffect

Review 3 years after lateral canthoplasty

<Day of surgery><Just taken. It’s the same as before surgery~>I just wrote this in the plastic surgery review room, but somehow that category didn’t feel like one actually used by real users, so I’m writing it again here.

Around this time in 2021, I had surgery at a hospital famous for lateral canthoplasty, and to summarize briefly with the conclusion first, it’s “a surgery that Dormammu-resets without a trace.”

The surgical method seems to be making an incision at the outer side of the eye, then pulling the outer corner of the eye with a very thin thread like the one used for buried-suture double eyelid surgery and fixing it to the nearby bone. But if you think about it even a little rationally, it doesn’t make sense. Even buried double-eyelid sutures fixed quietly in place come undone easily, so can a thread pulling the outer corner of the eye taut 365 days a year really stay maintained without side effects?

I accepted it because I had a complex that the outer side of my eyes was narrower than the inner side, making my eyes look strabismic, but now there’s no difference from before surgery. It went back to the way it was. The one really fortunate thing is that I had no side effects at all, like a ㄷ-shaped outer corner, exposed red mucous membrane, or stinging/dry eyes, and it healed back to exactly my pre-surgery eye shape. I’m thankful for that alone. I wonder where the fixing thread went.. Is it still inside my eye.... I don’t feel any foreign-body sensation, so I’m just living with it.

1.3 million won is certainly not a small amount of money, but it wasn’t a wasteful expense for me because I clearly realized that my narrow outer eye corners, one of my big complexes, are still something modern medicine cannot solve, and after that I could live without worrying about it. Before this surgery, I used to spend hours every day looking up surgical reviews and hospitals, but after surgery I completely let go of my lingering desire for cosmetic surgery and instead focused on self-development and my career.

When I had surgery, there were really only a few lateral canthoplasty reviews, so there was no one to stop me from making my decision. But I logged in after a long time and wrote this in the hope that at least one person might use my post as a reason to spend their money somewhere more worthwhile. For those who still can’t give up after reading this, I cautiously recommend the hospital where I had surgery. There is no effect, but it heals without scars, so you can lose only the money and settle your lingering regret without side effects.
