Since it was my first double eyelid surgery, I thought about it a lot before deciding to go through with it, but by my standards, I think it turned out so pretty!! Rather than trying to show off, I got information from this community and did a lot of research here, which helped me a lot, so I’m posting this in case my review can help anyone who is still deliberating
First, my criteria for choosing a clinic! There were 5 things I considered important when deciding on a double eyelid surgery clinic. 1. Whether I could have a consultation with the director I wanted - because the surgery is done with the director! 2. Whether the consultant was kind - I checked this because usually you end up communicating with the consultant 3. Surgical style - You can’t ask someone who does very natural-looking surgery to make a dramatic line, and you can’t ask someone who does very dramatic surgery to make it natural, right? I wanted eyes that were natural yet defined, so I mainly looked for that style! 4. Consultation attitude - Honestly, no matter how skilled a doctor is, if it doesn’t match what I want, there’s no point in having surgery, right? I think I checked how well they listened to me and whether the consultation felt too factory-like 5. Whether there is CCTV - We all carefully research before having surgery, but still, just in case.. I checked whether CCTV was installed! I don’t know about other things, but you definitely have to check this..
Anyway, I chose the clinic based on these criteria, and the clinic I went to was run by a single director, so I was able to have surgery by that director! I also liked that the director’s surgical style was natural yet defined And at the time of the consultation, I hadn’t gone in knowing a lot of information, so I asked whether it would be good to do epicanthoplasty and lateral canthoplasty too, if possible, along with double eyelid surgery. But they advised against epicanthoplasty because it would make my impression look stronger! They also advised against lateral canthoplasty because they said it would cause scleral show..
I was drawn to them because they seemed skilled, but I think I liked them even more because they clearly told me which surgeries I needed and which ones seemed unnecessary!
Oh, and for the consultation, I had a brief talk with the consultant, then was able to consult with the director right away. While setting the line for me, I think I consulted with the director for almost 30-40 minutes. Even though there was no consultation fee, they consulted with me so kindly, and that’s when I felt sure
The consultant was also so kind that whenever I asked questions through KakaoTalk, I never felt uncomfortable!
The surgery took about 1 hour, and I was under anesthesia, but when they just told me to open my eyes, it was already over... I was really worried it would hurt, but it didn’t hurt at all
The stitches were removed after one week! I took the photos today, and it’s been about 50 days since the double eyelid surgery For an incisional procedure, I think the swelling went down quickly
When getting double eyelid surgery for the first time, I really hope everyone gets it done at a good clinic that matches their own style! If anyone is planning double eyelid surgery but doesn’t know what surgery they need, or still hasn’t decided yet, I’d like to recommend it The consultation was really helpful for me!
