BeforeHello I’m posting a review from 20 years after double jaw surgery. First, I had double jaw surgery in the winter of 2004. I had orthodontic treatment for about 3 years starting in my first year of high school, and during winter break after graduation, my orthodontist told me that I needed double jaw surgery, so I had the surgery at Wiz Hospital in Nonhyeon. Back then, double jaw surgery was not at all a widely known surgery, and neither I nor my parents’ friends knew at all that it was such a dangerous surgery when I had it.
After surgery, honestly, I had never in my life experienced anything that painful, hard, and distressing...
Before surgery, because of malocclusion, my lower jaw protrusion was so severe that I couldn’t bite through ramen noodles. Appearance-wise, I looked a bit fierce.
Anyway, without knowing what kind of surgery it was or which areas were being operated on, after surgery, in the recovery room, my nose had blood + gauze, and my jaw and face were swollen tight in a compression band... From that evening, I really thought I was going to die from how hard it was. I kept crying because it hurt... How painful must it have been for a 20-year-old I don’t know about now, but back then, about 2 days after surgery? The doctor laid me down, nurses held my arms and legs, and to align my jaw, he pressed with both hands, and I was seriously on the verge of fainting...
Anyway, after being discharged, for about 6 months? 1 year? looking back now, I still had residual swelling. It was really painful and hard, but if I were asked to do it again, I think I probably would. In high school, maybe because of my protruding lower jaw, I looked pretty fierce, but after surgery, everyone treated me kindly lol
I saw many posts about side effects after double jaw surgery, such as sagging, temporomandibular joint problems, and nerve damage, but I didn’t really have any. One slightly regrettable thing is that the lower jaw was set back too much, so when I lose weight and have less facial fat, my face is so small that even though I want to diet more, I can’t, to that extent? And when I gain weight, my double chin looks more noticeable than other people’s.. That’s about it.
Also, a few years ago I called the surgical hospital to ask something, but they said that at the time records were not registered electronically and were kept as files, and because the hospital had moved, the files could not be checked, so they couldn’t verify my information. From memory, it was Nonhyeon Wiz Wiz, but now it seems to have changed to Wiz Dental Hospital. Anyway, yes, that’s how it is haha
