Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews@jaw-review

3-year review after double-jaw surgery

I had surgery around this time in 2018.

I had a long face and protruding mouth, and because my maxilla was long, my gums showed a lot. It wasn’t that my teeth were protruding, but that my gums were protruding, so ㅠㅠ it was a very ambiguous face. I was told it couldn’t be improved with orthodontics, so I got fixated on double-jaw surgery.. and ended up doing it. My face wasn’t that severe. They said my case didn’t necessarily require either pre-surgical or post-surgical orthodontics. The first week after surgery really felt like going back and forth between life and death..ㅠㅠ It was so hard, and from around 3 months, the swelling had gone down moderately and I really liked it. My face became much smaller. But the side effects can’t be ignored..

1. After surgery, my teeth are loose overall ㅠㅠ The surgical hospital said this part could be improved with orthodontics, but I don’t really trust that; 2. Sensory damage.. The sensation in my upper gums still hasn’t returned even now, 3 years later, and overall the sensation around my lower jaw has become very dull. Sometimes I don’t even notice drool or food on me.. 3. I have an orange-peel chin wrinkle at the chin tip and a tightening sensation in the lower jaw. This is the most annoying part. Even when I’m just sitting still, my lower jaw feels heavy, and my pronunciation has gotten a lot worse.

I had it done for cosmetic improvement, so although I lost a lot because of side effects and so on.. my image definitely did change. I’d say I changed from a more blunt and masculine impression to a slightly more feminine one. Even if I could go back, I think I would still do it. But I do wonder what it would have been like if I had looked more into places with good aftercare. ㅠㅠ Because I lost a lot after double-jaw surgery (philtrum got longer, nose widened), I entered the path of cosmetic surgery addiction(?_).
