I had Wonder Canthoplasty 3 weeks ago.
The surgery time was short (about 30 minutes total for both sides), and since I didn’t have sedation anesthesia, there was a feeling of being reassured(?) but also a bit uncomfortable. The anesthetic injection goes in once per eye, and this really, really hurtsㅠㅠ It’s brief, but the pain is very intense. But after a few seconds the anesthesia takes effect, so the surgery itself doesn’t really feel like much, except it smells like burnt squid, which is a bit unpleasant. They checked from various angles, so I felt like they were performing the surgery meticulously.
Conjunctival edema varies by person, but for me I felt there was quite a bit until the stitches were removed (thankfully it didn’t turn red, just felt swollen), and after the stitches were removed it subsided rapidly, so by week 2 I think it was almost gone. The foreign-body sensation also seemed to be almost gone after passing 2 weeks, and now at week 3 there is none at all. Also, from the day of surgery to day 3, there was a throbbing pain, so it hurt more than what I had seen in reviewsㅠㅠ
Right after surgery, even the stitches looked really natural, like I had just drawn eyeliner, and I just wore glasses at home, but none of my family noticed.. Maybe because I sometimes wear makeup at home anyway, it just felt like, “Did you do some eye makeup?”
I’m a little disappointed with the surgical result. At first, during the first week, I liked that my eyes seemed much softer, but it has already become very natural, so it feels like there isn’t a huge difference from before surgery. During the consultation, they said my eyes weren’t the type that could be opened up a lot, so I did take that into account, but honestly, after a few more months, I think there may hardly be any differenceㅠㅠ On the other hand, there are no side effects, and especially it has no effect at all on my smiling eyes (it still feels tight because it’s early after surgery, but my smiling eyes haven’t become strange or bizarre X), so if you want even a very slight widening, I recommend it. (It really may be only very slightㅠㅠㅠ)
After about 6 months, I’ll probably consult at several clinics and check whether there’s more room to open them up.. Even if I do it again, I think I’ll do it at Answer. If they can’t be opened much, I guess that’s just the limit of my eyesㅎㅎ
I don’t recommend it if you want a dramatic effect, but I recommend it if you dislike side effects like your smiling eyes becoming strange and still want even a subtle change!
