It has been 7 years since my surgery. I had surgery to insert an implant because I had a retruded chin. They make an incision below the lip, near the tooth roots, and insert the implant. As time passes, I think it feels just like my own chin. I have no foreign-body sensation or bone resorption at all; it has simply become part of me. However, I’ve heard there are people who undergo revision surgery because they don’t like the shape or because the position changes over time. For me, I think it was a simpler surgery than expected, and after about 7 years including recovery, there have been no issues. However, over time, the chin position or asymmetry can develop and the center may become misaligned, so when you have the procedure, ask your doctor to pay attention to facial symmetry.
