Before my removal surgery, I got a lot of information from a community, so I decided to share my review too.
First of all, my first surgery was done in early 2020 with a septal cartilage nasal tip + silicone nasal bridge. From the moment the splint was removed after surgery, I knew it had gone wrong.....ㅠㅠ I think it’s true when people say your nose will stay the way it looks when the splint comes off. The swelling goes down a lot, but it mostly keeps that shape. My nasal tip was extremely upturned, and although it came down over the course of a year, it still had a blunt and strange shape.
I kept reading reviews in a community, and when I got the chance, I ended up having removal surgery at a hospital famous for removal surgery. When I first visited for the surgery, what the doctor said felt so trustworthy that I booked right away.
And 3 days ago, I had the removal surgery. What I liked so much even before the surgery was that, unlike the hospital where I had my first surgery, they had a private inpatient room, and before surgery I had a long consultation with a manager who was like a nurse, plus a long consultation with the doctor. During the consultation, they asked whether I wanted the nasal cartilage restored as close to the original as possible, or whether I still wanted the alar cartilage repositioned to make it slightly prettier and slimmer, whether I wanted the septal cartilage stored in the nose, and whether I had any questions, and then we went into surgery.
Unlike my first surgery, which took almost over 4-5 hours, the surgery time was about an hour and a half. Also, with sedation anesthesia, unlike my first surgery when I woke up in the inpatient room, they woke me up during suturing, so I walked to the inpatient room fully conscious. Even while I was in the inpatient room, the doctor came and told me the surgery went well, and also explained what method they used for the surgery.
After I drank some water and came to my senses a bit, the manager came and took me to the consultation room, where she explained the surgical process in great detail. They said my septal cartilage was not large enough to store, so they crushed it and placed it in to help preserve the nasal tip shape. (They asked me about this before surgery, and I agreed.) And they gave me the nasal bridge silicone as a souvenirㅋㅋㅋ and I was discharged.
And this is something I was personally curious about: during my first surgery, my face swelled up really, really badly, and the swelling lasted for more than about 10 days, so it was so hard to look in the mirror..... So I was very, very worried that my face would swell like that during removal surgery too, but thankfully, now that it’s day 3, it is not swollen as much as the first surgery. It’s almost to the point where I’d say there is no swelling at all? There is no facial swelling.
Yesterday (the day after surgery), I had the nasal packing removed, and on Saturday I’m going to have the splint removed, but I’m so worried that it might have become much lower ㅠㅠ Still, even just looking at the nasal tip shape now, I can clearly see that it has improved compared to before, so I’m very happy. I’ll post another review after the splint is removed too!!!
And I really think that whether it’s your first nose surgery or removal, it’s best to do it at a hospital famous for nose surgery. I wish I had known this during my first surgery ㅠㅠ.... Anyway, I’ll come back with a review after the splint is removed!!! :)
