I’m writing a review after going to the clinic on the afternoon of July 5 and having surgery right away.
They told me to come by 3, so I got to the hospital by 3. I waited in a separate space, went to the restroom, changed out of everything except my underwear into surgical clothes, had a brief consultation with the counseling manager, and then went straight to the operating room!
I lay down on the operating table, had the IV connected, heard them say the anesthetic was going in, and fell asleep. When I opened my eyes, everything was already over. (I clearly asked the director to wake me up during the surgery, but they just kept me asleep the whole time;;)
After surgery, they gave me a bottle of water in the recovery room. Since I’d had to fast for 6 hours on the day of surgery, I was hungry and thirsty, so I finished the whole bottle.
After a little while, the manager guided me in and I had time with the director to hear about the surgical process and ask questions.
At the Apgujeong clinic where I had my second surgery, they had said it was silicone + septal cartilage + ear cartilage, but when they actually opened it up, it turned out they had built the support with silicone + ear cartilage + Medpor. Because of the Medpor, the adhesions were severe, so the director scraped out as much as possible, but said my nose would bleed for a while.
Seeing the before and after photos made me feel so relieved... I didn’t take any photos separately, so I asked the director if I could get some later, and they readily said yes.
Since my previous surgery had been done with a closed approach, they said my nostrils could become uneven. They told me not to worry and that they would match them as much as possible, and honestly it really isn’t very noticeable. (I’m the type who scars easily, so even if the asymmetry had been severe, I had no intention of doing an open approach.)
I had the ear cartilage + support removed, and only had the bridge corrected with a new silicone implant fitted to my lowered nose. Maybe because I bruise and scar easily by nature, I started swelling a lot from dawn. Still, I kept doing cold compresses as much as possible, kept the room cool with the air conditioner, and tried my best, so I think it’s a bit better.
The next day after surgery (Tuesday, July 6), I went to the hospital in the afternoon, received a swelling-reduction laser treatment, and the director personally disinfected the area and checked the surgical progress. In other places, nurses usually do it, but here the director did it personally, which was really nice.
They gave me antibiotics through an IV, and said that because it was Medpor, I needed one more round of antibiotics. (Seriously, be careful with that clinic..)
Even while disinfecting, they cleaned the implants that had been in my previous nose and showed them to me again, and for a moment I thought they were giving them to me. (They also said they would give them to me if I wanted;;)
I’m scheduled to remove the tape on Friday, and since they used dissolvable sutures, we decided there was no need to remove stitches, which was even better. (I remember how terribly painful stitch removal was, so I was relieved.) They said I was the type who swelled more than others, but that by next Monday the major swelling should go down and it would be okay to go around here and there, so I felt good.
They said I should be fine as long as I’m careful with my nose for one month, and told me to come in once more after a lot of the swelling goes down. (After tape removal, once the swelling goes down, visit one more time.)
They said alcohol should be after one month. If I was really worried because of work life, then after 2 weeks, but preferably I shouldn’t drink. For coffee, they only told me not to drink too much.
Whenever I had questions, they answered so kindly that I was very, very satisfied. They explained the whole process of how the surgery was done, and because their skills are good, I think you can trust them and leave it to them. Even though I had vowed never to get plastic surgery again, I felt that if it were with this doctor, I could even consider doing other areas too.
I had no idea that after consulting on Thursday I would end up having surgery right away on Monday, but setting the date quickly was the best decision. I’m so happy. Everyone, I hope you decide carefully when it comes to nose surgery.
I’m planning to post another review next time, once the swelling has completely gone down, with before, after, and one-month photos. I suffered so much from side effects of nose surgery, so I want to post it in the hope that no one else like me will go through this again.
