I posted when I was 4 months after having three facial contouring procedures about gum tightness and dulled sensation, and I wanted to share how I feel now that I’m approaching 7 months!
The most uncomfortable thing was the gum tightness. Honestly, until 6 months, the tightness in my gums around the front chin was so severe, and I was especially extremely stressed before going to sleep. But after 6 months passed, the uncomfortable tightness disappeared. Now, when I move my lips widely or talk, my gums just feel a bit heavy. Most importantly, I go to sleep without feeling discomfort before bed. I went to the hospital at 6 months because of the gum discomfort, and they said what they always say: that I need to watch it for up to 2 years. I kept regretting the surgery because of this, but now I’m so happyㅠㅠ I believe it will improve even more going forward..
As for sensation. I think sensation in my cheekbones has come back about 70-80%. But the cheekbone area isn’t really an area you touch much in daily life, so it wasn’t very uncomfortable. Sensation in my jaw came back completely early after surgery, and my lower lip sometimes feels slightly tingly if I bite it. The middle 3 lower teeth are still numb. I’m hoping that as the front chin muscles gradually loosen, sensation will return. I’ll write another post to commemorate the day all my sensation comes back!
As for appearance after surgery. I didn’t tell my parents about the surgery, and they have absolutely no idea. Friends I told about the surgery also say they don’t notice a big change, and friends who don’t know about the surgery obviously don’t say anything.... When I look in the mirror myself, I can feel that my facial line has been refined and looks better lol. It’s just that people around me don’t know... But strangely, when I take selfies, it does show that I had surgery, so they come out well. So I thought people who are good at taking selfies might be satisfied. So please take the before/after selfie photos posted in posts with that in mind. For me, I’ve settled it in my own mind as fulfilling a wish (?) I’d had for 10 years + overcoming a complex that only I knew about. So unless your face shape is completely square or it’s to the point that you can’t carry your face confidently, I don’t want to recommend facial contouring surgery.
This is sincere advice from me, as a sort of facial contouring senior(?), so if you’re not planning to become a celebrity, use the money you’d spend on surgery to buy things you want or eat things you want instead. And with that money, just sign up for PT and exercise!
