I thought I’d be fine because I have a pretty good memory, but it’s gradually getting blurry, so I opened my notes app and wrote this down. I thought it might be really helpful if other people read it too, so I’m posting it partly to earn points! The places I went to are hospitals that only do breasts and are single-director clinics, so please keep that in mind while reading.
ㅇㄴㄱㅁ > The director only operates through an axillary incision, and before the consultation you must watch an endoscopic axillary-incision surgery video. About 30 minutes? He does explain things well, but he has a bit of a university professor vibe and isn’t the super-friendly type. What was unusual was that after surgery, they said they even show the axillary endoscopy video, including the part where the fascia is cut, and use that to prove how bloodless the surgery was. I could really feel his huge pride in that part. I thought it was genuinely unusual that a friend can enter the operating room and help choose the size together. It was good that they showed various operating-room photos and before-and-after surgery photos. The AS part was a bit unusual too. The prices were all set differently by item, like if capsular contracture occurs after a certain number of years, if rupture occurs after a certain number of years, and so on. Surgery is done under general anesthesia, and I was recommended Motiva 300 cc, axillary incision, dual plane. For aftercare, I was told scar care, manual massage, and ultrasound are free for life.
ㄱㄹ > The hospital is extremely kind. It’s a women-only hospital, and from reception there’s a certain unique vibe (you’ll know if you go for a consultation..), and the consultant really leads the consultation professionally. You can think of most of the first-stage diagnosis as being done with the consultant first. She had that much knowledge about breast surgery. She explained side effects openly and transparently without hesitation, and also talked about how past surgical methods differ from current surgical methods, like... the history of breast surgery?? I liked that she explained all of that. (But the consultation can take a long time, so if you go here, I think it’s best to leave plenty of time.) The director has the complete opposite style from the consultant, but when I asked questions, he answered everything well, so I was satisfied. But he doesn’t tell you things first.. I think it’s better to think of questions in advance and ask them. For the incision, both axillary and inframammary are possible, but he recommended the inframammary fold incision because it’s better for shaping. I was recommended dual plane Motiva 285–315 cc. (full demi selection) You can watch the full CCTV footage, and they said aftercare is intensive for 1 year. They said even after that, you can receive care if you request it. (Swelling, scars, feel, contracture prevention, etc... there’s a lot.) Oh, and here you can also be hospitalized in a private room! They said there’s Netflix too, and it’s set up nicely like a hotel.
Since I only looked at private specialized clinics, I was also curious about larger hospitals, so I booked additional consultations. I’ll write a review after I go to those too!! For now, thinking between these two places, ㄱㄹ gave me more of an impression that I’d receive full-care management, while ㅇㄴㄱㅁ felt like they had a firm surgical conviction about endoscopic axillary-incision surgery. At both places, the consultants were so good at counseling that I gained a lot of valuable surgical knowledge, which was nice I thought that later, if someone I know says they’re looking into breast surgery, I’d tell them to go consult at those two places once.
And also, compared to just looking at review photos online, when I went for the consultations I could see way~~~ more before-and-after surgery photos inside the hospitals, so I think that helped the most!! For everyone here who feels disappointed thinking, “Why are there so few photos when I want to see more?”, going in person and asking them to show photos will be much more efficient,,
