Hello! I joined this community to look up information on under-eye fat repositioning surgery, but there weren’t as many detailed reviews as I expected...! So just in case there are people like me, I’m writing a thorough review...! I think you can just pick and read the keywords you need :)
※ I don’t know how to insert photos in betweenㅠㅠㅠ
▼[D-day: Friday] I fasted for 4 hours before surgery and had the surgery around 7 p.m. They said it would be sedation anesthesia where you wake up in the middle, so I was scared and really worried, but in reality I was half-asleep, and the hazy feeling was like dreaming... There was no pain/discomfort at all, and there wasn’t much swelling right after surgery either! They said the surgery would take about 1 hour, but mine took about 50 minutes!
Because the anesthesia hadn’t fully worn off, I felt slightly dizzy taking the subway home, and the area from under my eyes to my upper lip stayed numb, but it wore off after about 2 hours. That evening, I ate pumpkin porridge, took the prescribed medicine, and even did an ice pack!
▼[D+1: Saturday] When I woke up, there was some eye discharge. On the left side, maybe there had been a little bleeding, so along the under-eye line there was also some red scab(?) or eye discharge(?) that felt like slightly clotted blood.
I removed the usual discharge at the inner corners of my eyes with a cotton swab, and left the scab-like discharge that had hardened along the under-eye line alone. Since I had surgery through an incision on the lower side of the eye, I left it just in case. There was no swelling at all, and I continued cold compresses + drank 2 pumpkin juices!
▼[D+2: Sunday] There wasn’t much eye discharge, no bleeding, no swelling, and no bruising. Only the taping under my eyes felt a little stuffy, and whenever I felt like I was swelling, I did an ice pack for 15 minutes! This day too, I drank 2 pumpkin juices and ate meals as usual!
▼[D+3: Monday] People usually say swelling is worst on days 3 and 4, but I still had no swelling even on day 3! There was a slight yellow bruise at the outer corner of my eye, but after icing it, it quickly disappeared. That day I went to the clinic and received a swelling laser treatment and care! Until day 3, only ice packs were allowed, so I did ice packs + drank 2 pumpkin juices!
▼[D+4: Tuesday] Day 4 was the day I had the most swelling so far! My upper eyelids were swollen to the point that opening my eyes felt heavy...
That day, I visited the clinic, had the taping removed, and the nurse disinfected and cleaned(?) the blood scabs and various other things that had been left alone until then! After removing the taping, there were some yellowish bruises under my eyes. There was swelling and bruising, but should I say the skin looked shiny? When light hit it, it looked glossy, so it made it look even more swollen? There was something like that.
And from this day, whenever I yawned, I felt pain under my left eye with a tight pulling sensation. It was kind of like when you’ve been squatting and suddenly stand up and your stomach suddenly hurts, a pain like a tendon being pulled? And it felt like my intraocular pressure was rising a bit too... It was a total mess^^...
From day 4, washing my face and hair (you must not lower your head) and showering were allowed, so I showered as soon as I got home. Afterward, I did a cold compress for 15 minutes to reduce swelling, and after some time I did a warm compress. They say it’s good for bruising! + Light makeup is also possible, but I didn’t do it!
▼[D+5: Wednesday] Among the reviews, I had seen some saying the eye shape changed, and mine did too! The outer corner of my eye looked like it had lifted upward! It was clearly because of swelling, so I wasn’t particularly worried,
but for me, it was actually that shiny-looking skin? That bothered me so much... I wondered if it was because of swelling, but it stayed the same even with cold compresses. I wondered if it was bruising, but it stayed the same even with warm compresses. Since it was the area that was directly operated on, I figured the skin might look more prominent and just left it alone!
The yellowish bruising under my eyes also seemed to be resolving compared with the beginning and had spread a lot, but since it didn’t show much with a mask on, it was okay! From this day, I stopped wearing a hat!
▼[D+6: Thursday] I started going to work from this day! I had told my company and had the surgery, so I didn’t feel burdened about going to work, but swelling and bruising are visible. If I hadn’t told them, I think people would have asked!! It’s not severe, but they probably would’ve asked if I cried the day before... The bruises are covered by a mask!
And after only lying down and doing compresses continuously, going to work and looking at a monitor for 8 hours made my eyes very tired...!
▼[D+7: Friday] It had been exactly one week since surgery. To talk about swelling first, it improved a lot! Aside from the outer corners of my eyes being sliiightly lifted, there was almost no swelling, and the bruising got a bit worse! As the yellowish bruises gradually faded, they became lighter and wider, but I don’t think it mattered because of the mask!
Makeup was possible, but I didn’t keep doing makeup because I didn’t want to irritate the area. Looking at the instructions, contact lenses can be worn from after 10 days, and alcohol seems to be allowed only after at least 2 weeks :)
As I wrote, it got super, super long.. haha I wondered whether to write it or not, but I’m writing it in case it helps! If you have anything you’re curious about, please feel free to ask, and I’ll wrap up by writing what I consistently did every single day!
1. Ice pack for 20 minutes as soon as I woke up 2. Repeated cold/warm compresses whenever I had time 3. Drank 2 pumpkin juices a day, morning/afternoon 4. Didn’t eat anything 4 hours before sleeping (to swell less) 5. Warm compress for 15 minutes before bed 6. Used a high pillow
