5 years ago: natural adhesion + epicanthoplasty This time: natural adhesion + front/upper epicanthoplasty + lateral/lower canthoplasty Reason for revision surgery: the line became thinner
This was my revision surgery after 5 years, and I had it during my period, so I bruised a lot and the swelling was severe. I thought the surgery had failed, but it turns out my recovery was just slow? haha As the swelling goes down, I’m gradually becoming human again lololol People say eyes are just a “procedure,” but that’s all liesㅠ It’s so hardㅠ If you’re thinking of getting surgery, do it even one year younger^^ And front, upper, lateral, and lower canthoplasty really aren’t easy.. Think carefully before doing it!
I’ll upload the daily review I wrote too. Everyone, let’s get through the mentally rough recovery period and hang in there! Time is the medicine!!
9/12 Day of surgery: Originally, surgery was scheduled for Fri 9/13 at 8 PM, but I kept telling the consultant that it was too late, and thankfully it was changed to Thu 9/12 at 4:30 PM 3:30 Arrived at the hospital (payment & re-consultation with the consultant while filling out the consent form) ~the long, long wait began~ 6:30 Re-consultation and design with the doctor 7:00 Surgery started 8:10 Surgery ended 8:50 I said I was going home with my eyes open After surgery, I came home and went straight to sleep (slept with 3 pillows stacked)
9/13 Day 1: Couldn’t open my eyes well / severe blood bruising Ice pack once every 2-3 hours (10 minutes each) 20-minute walk (so hot..) Avoid salty and spicy foods (foods that make you swell easily) 1 packet of Dangguisusan, 1 Ellas A Vitamins / probiotics Use ophthalmic ointment to soften blood scabs and eye discharge-like substances on the double eyelid line and gently wipe them away -> remove blood scabs or foreign matter on the crease line so the line settles well Slept with 3 pillows stacked Washed face only with cleansing water
9/14 Day 2: Couldn’t open my eyes well / blood bruising Ice packs frequently 20-minute walk 1 packet of Dangguisusan, 1 Ellas A Vitamins Probiotics Went to the hair salon to wash my hair Just slept with only 1 pillow Washed face only with cleansing water
9/15 Day 3: Sensation around my eyes returned / blue bruises + blood bruising Ice packs frequently 20-minute walk 1 packet of Dangguisusan, 1 Ellas A Vitamins Probiotics Practiced opening my eyes Washed face with foam cleanser + sea sponge
9/16 Day 4: Blood bruising + yellow bruising Ice packs during the day (since a lot of sensation came back, it was too cold to do for more than 10 minutes) In the afternoon, did cold-warm-cold in that order (warm compresses make me swell) 20-minute walk Vitamins / probiotics Washed hair at home without letting water get in my eyes Practiced opening my eyes (holding my forehead and opening my eyes so the line settles well) Washed face with foam cleanser + sea sponge
9/17 Day 5: Blood bruising + yellow bruising Ice packs during the day Warm compress before bed -> ice pack 40-minute walk Vitamins / probiotics Practiced opening my eyes Washed face with foam cleanser + sea sponge
9/18 Day 6: Blood bruising + yellow bruising, dark circles Ice packs during the day Warm compress before bed -> ice pack 1-hour walk Vitamins / probiotics Practiced opening my eyes Washed face with foam cleanser + sea sponge
9/19 Day 7: Stitch removal day!!!! When I woke up in the morning, one stitch on the right side had come out. I asked the hospital, and they said it was okay if the stitch came out naturally because the wound area had healed Blood bruising + yellow bruising Ice packs during the day Warm compress before bed -> ice pack 30-minute walk Vitamins / probiotics Practiced opening my eyes
9/20 Day 8: Slight blood bruising + lots of yellow bruising Ice packs during the day Warm compress before bed -> ice pack Couldn’t walk (rain issue) Vitamins / probiotics Practiced opening my eyes Applied ophthalmic ointment morning and night (to the areas where stitches were removed)
9/21 Day 9: Originally, after surgery, I had conjunctival edema in my right eye, but suddenly after lying down and getting up, bloody tears came out of my right eye It didn’t hurt, and I was just scared because there was blood, but I asked the hospital and they said pooled blood can come out, so I calmed down Ice packs during the day Warm compress before bed Vitamins / probiotics Practiced opening my eyes Applied ophthalmic ointment morning and night
9/22 Day 10: I’m worriedㅠㅠ because the eye swelling is going down differently so the lines are different / the right epicanthoplasty looks more severe / milia at the inner corner epicanthoplasty area / milia at the lateral canthoplasty area. I’m telling myself it’ll get better with time When I smile, the outer corners of my eyes feel tight Ice packs during the day Warm compress before bed Vitamins / probiotics Applied ophthalmic ointment morning and night
9/23 Day 11: Only have bruising under the right eye Outer corner of the eye pulls when I smile Compress only warm compress before bed Vitamins / probiotics Applied ophthalmic ointment morning and night 30-minute walk Got dermatology laser treatment (exosome Potenza) Only the swelling in my right eye is going down slowly There are still milia and a sunken-looking scar at the epicanthoplasty stitch area
9/24 Day 12: Bruising under the right eye Outer corner pulls less when I smile Vitamins / probiotics Applied ophthalmic ointment morning and night 30-minute walk I’m worried because my left eye is an in-out line / while doing the upper epicanthoplasty, my right eye seems to have become a semi-out line (I wanted an in-out line) Slight yellowish blood mark on the white of the left eye / burst blood vessel definitely still remains on the right
9/25 Day 13: Slight bruising under the right eye If I squeeze my eyes shut, the outer corner still pulls Worried about epicanthoplasty asymmetry Worried about epicanthoplasty milia It’s impossible to scrub-wash all the way up to my eyes
9/26 Day 14: The bruise under my right eye won’t go awayㅠㅠ When I squeeze my eyes shut, the outer corner pulls Worried about epicanthoplasty milia; the asymmetry is improving as the swelling goes down
9/27 Day 15: Slight bruising under the right eye Swelling improved a lot I think I can go to work wearing glasses
9/28 Day 16: Did makeup extremely carefully When removing it, the epicanthoplasty area turned red, so I applied ophthalmic ointment and slept After walking around outside for 8 hours, the swelling went down Swelling level where I still need to wear horn-rimmed glasses
9/29 Day 17: When I squeeze my eyes shut, the outer corner still pulls Can go to work wearing horn-rimmed glasses Bruising is almost gone too
9/30 Day 18: Went to work Maybe because of the canthoplasty, my eyes keep feeling dry Because I’m working, my eyes get tired easily The epicanthoplasty area became red
10/4 Day 22: When I squeeze my eyes shut and open them, the front and back pull There’s a pulling feeling when I close and open my right eye (No feeling at all on the left) Eye discharge builds up easily and my eyes are dry
10/7 Day 25: Right eye - every time I close and open it, it feels tight and stiff. I don’t know if it’s because of swelling or if the surgery went wrong (anxious) I’m anxious because the front part of the line seems like a semi-out line Left eye - the in-out line is pretty, but the end of the line feels a bit wrinkly? so I’m anxious When I go to work, my eyes are swollen in the morning and settle down in the afternoon. By the afternoon, my eyes feel tired There’s a hard lump at the inner corner of the eye When I squeeze my eyes shut or smile, the back of the eye pulls My smiling expression looks awkward
10/8 It was always swollen in the morning, but today it was less swollen, enough that I could go to work My right eye still has a pulling feeling
