Double-Eyelid Clinic Visit Review

I visited two clinics. I have prominent eyes, wide-open eyes, asymmetry, no crease at all, an epicanthal fold, and this would be my first surgery. I wanted a naturally defined inner-out to semi-out crease.

1. [Clinic A] — I trusted them because reviews said they did not make excessive recommendations and suggested only what was necessary. Since I am a nurse, I checked their experience and did not really want someone who had just opened a local clinic, but I booked with the director, [Doctor A], because they had even worked as a clinical instructor. There was no excessive recommendation at all. They said I only needed natural adhesion. They said I did not need canthoplasty, but upper canthoplasty could be fine if I wanted just a little. The coordinator was also very kind. However, there was no separate anesthesiologist, so even though I would only briefly have sedation, it did not feel completely reassuring.

2. [Clinic B] — I had a consultation with [Doctor B], said to be best at eyelid surgery. They analyzed my eyes within one second and correctly identified all my concerns. However, they kept recommending epicanthoplasty because of my epicanthal fold. Since the red area at the inner corners of my eyes is already visible, I wondered if that was really necessary. The coordinator was an unfriendly office worker. Before seeing the doctor, whenever I mentioned a concern while filling out the chart, she strongly cut me off by saying, “Tell the doctor when they come.” She kept praising the clinic and doctor, then insulted [Clinic A] when I said I was going there. She did not seem to be speaking from much knowledge. When I asked about the price, she responded authoritatively, “How many times do you think I have been asked that question?” I did not like the coordinator, but since the surgery would be done by the doctor anyway, I do not think it matters. Both doctors commented that the lines they designed suited me and gave a good impression. I wanted lower canthoplasty, but both advised against it.
