Hello First of all, the reason I’m writing this is that I’ve been looking into various procedures to become prettier, but honestly, I’m scared, so I’m trying to read other people’s reviews. Just as I’ve received help from others, I hope this post can be even a little helpful to anyone considering orthodontic treatment.
First, to explain why the second dental clinic in Sinchon was good for me, I think I need to talk first about the HOO dental clinic where I first received orthodontic treatment. Both clinics were non-extraction (I had already had my wisdom teeth removed when I was a student) and non-surgical, so please read this as a process of improvement rather than a dramatic transformation.
<Story about the first HOO dental clinic I went to> During my school years, I had a lot of concerns because of my protruding lower jaw, and when I was in college, I worked part-time and received orthodontic treatment at HOO Dental Clinic in Gangdong-gu. I looked around here and there on my own, and at the time, the clinic director (though there was only one...) also gave presentations at orthodontic seminars, so I think that’s why I trusted him and went there. I remember sitting down and crying on the way home after my first consultation. On one hand, I cried out of happiness because I was told my protruding lower jaw could be corrected without surgery, and on the other hand, I think I cried from worry about where I would earn the 6 million won it cost back in 2010. To tell you the conclusion first, after 4 years of orthodontic treatment at HOO Dental Clinic, my protruding lower jaw did improve, but instead, at some point, whenever I took photos, my square jaw started to stand out so much that it became another concern. While working, every time I took pictures, my protruding lower jaw was not as bad as before, but from certain angles, I couldn’t help looking like my lower jaw was enlarged. I lived pretending not to notice, telling myself it was just because the photo came out badly, but at some point, I kept noticing that my front teeth were spreading apart. Almost 4 years after finishing orthodontic treatment, I finally gathered the courage to go back. Actually, the HOO doctor I first met when I was a young college student who didn’t know much about the world was quite older and had a somewhat scolding way of speaking, so I hadn’t felt very comfortable going to the clinic, and when I had to go again after such a long time since finishing treatment, I was scared. At the end, the doctor said it had gone well, but honestly, it wasn’t completely what I had imagined, so I kept putting off writing a review and eventually didn’t write one.. Anyway, when I went, the HOO doctor said that the front teeth spreading was originally like that so there was nothing to be done, and that the square jaw was because of my skeletal structure so there was nothing to be done. What actually made me really sad was when he said, “Just live like this.” After hearing that, I cried so much that I don’t even remember how I leftㅠㅠ When I last visited HOO Dental Clinic, I honestly felt so resentful, but as I write this again, I also think that maybe my case was just that difficult. There are also many people who received effective treatment at this clinic and are satisfied. I also went there after seeing those reviews at first. He is also that well-known. Honestly, this doctor probably did his best to treat me too, but suddenly I find myself thinking that maybe my expectations were that high, or my case may have been that difficult.
<Sinchon SYBR Dental Clinic> As I got older and looked into various things, I came to think that rather than the protruding lower jaw itself, my upper jaw had not grown enough, making my lower jaw look more prominent. So I set the keyword as “treatment for upper jaw underdevelopment” and searched a lot, and I found something like a dentist’s journal? written by a certain clinic director. It was probably in the form of a report to the academic community, something like a brief academic journal, and I think there was also a part where he pointed out that dentists in Korea also need to research and make efforts. I read all the writings by that person and felt he was someone who did research, so I found this clinic in Sinchon and went there. I had already undergone orthodontic treatment, and my previous orthodontic clinic had said there was nothing more they could do, so honestly, I went in a state of despair, clutching at straws. To tell you the conclusion first, after the first consultation, I brought my worried parents with me once more and had a second consultation, and I decided to undergo orthodontic retreatment there. After that, for two and a half years, I diligently went back and forth and finished the treatment. And to me, that treatment was honestly like psychiatric treatment as well. At the first consultation, they did basic exams such as X-rays and asked in detail about my expectations. They also asked how I had found my way there, what treatment I had received at the previous dental clinic, and many other things. Above all, I felt that this was someone who understood the deep resentment and sorrow I had because of this concern. At the second consultation, I received an explanation while looking together at the director’s analysis materials, where he had marked various numbers, lines, and angles in pencil on the test results from my first visit. I remember him saying that if my expectations were 100, what he could do for me was about 20, and that it would not be a noticeable, dramatic change, but if I wanted even a little improvement, he and the staff would do their best. I decided on orthodontic retreatment for that twenty percent. (It seemed the price had gone up a lot in the meantime..., and I did think how nice it would have been if I had known about this place when I was in college.) After the treatment ended, they gave me my before-and-after photos and the mold of my oral structure as a gift. Looking at the oral structure mold, there was definitely more space in my maxilla. It may not be a change that other people notice, but first of all, my tongue feels much more comfortable when I breathe. Honestly, as the director first told me, it may not be a noticeable change. Still, I think my line has become more natural, and I feel that it has improved functionally as well. I restarted orthodontic treatment after becoming an adult, so there are limits to changing everything through orthodontics, and according to my family, it may have been a foolish choice because it barely shows compared to the cost. But for students who are still worried, I believe you will get bigger results if you do it here. I liked that he almost always made time to explain my progress or the next treatment process, and I also learned a lot from seeing the warm attitude of a professional dealing with people.
To those reading this post as well, I hope that instead of hiding behind appearance complexes and letting your spirit keep shrinking, you find the charm that reveals your beautiful inner self rather than trying to become perfect.
Bye
