I had orbital decompression surgery about a week ago. It wasn't because I had a thyroid-related problem; I had congenitally protruding eyes. First, during consultations, as most hospitals do, they exaggerated and said I could return to daily life quickly within a few days. Of course, people who really recover well from cosmetic surgery may even work within a few days, but in my view, generally, resting for about a week seems right. In my case, I had diplopia for about 24 hours, and for about 3 days it was hard to keep my eyes open. Because of facial tenderness and swelling, it was really hard to keep them open. For cold compresses, I rotated 4 ice packs and applied them nonstop for about 4 days. Day of surgery - fine; I could see that the eyes had gone in. Post-op day 1 to day 3 - swelling and bruising got worse as the days went by. You think it won't swell more at this point, but it keeps swelling. Bruising also keeps increasing. Because of swelling inside the eyes, the eyes also look protruded again. Day 4 - from around this time, it doesn't swell more and stays about the same. After that, it goes down very slightly and slowly.
After surgery, because things like tenderness and swelling were hard, I wanted to read reviews, relate to them, and know how other people were doing, but reviews were so rare, appearing only one at a time, so I'm writing one myself. Once more time passes and it becomes more stable, I'll write again.
