1. Introduction
Hello..! It has already been 3 months and 10 days since my surgery. These days, I keep thinking that time really flies. Personally, since my school days, while preparing to become an actor and athlete, I had been curious about what the shortcomings of my face were. From the time I entered my 20s, those shortcomings became clear, and it took about 2 years until I finally decided, I should get eye surgery! From deciding on surgery to actually undergoing it, over a total of 3 years, I read countless posts about side effects, searched papers, and heard many firsthand reviews through communication with people in communities OR acquaintances. It was really confusing, and I worried whether I should really do this or whether it was too much of a gamble. I think I went back and forth on my decision countless times. I wasted a lot of time too, so it feels a little awkward and strange that I am now writing a 3-month review haha
2. Main Body.
First, I underwent medial epicanthoplasty + incisional double eyelid surgery. I did not usually have severe ptosis, but my eyes were close to my eyebrows and I had a lot of tissue above my eyes. However, my pupils were on the larger side, and my eyes protruded slightly, so they were somewhat ambiguous, somewhere between sunken and protruding eyes. I did not want revision surgery, and since I was doing it anyway, I thought it should last 10 years, so I boldly went ahead with medial epicanthoplasty + incisional double eyelid surgery. To tell you the conclusion, I think the surgery ended successfully enough that people around me say the surgery turned out really well. But personally, in the beginning after surgery, I was quite uncomfortable. Because of the canthoplasty, I had severe glare/light scattering, and above all, I had so much eye discharge... I remember it being quite uncomfortable ㅠㅠ Until the 2-month mark, the canthoplasty area would sting periodically and my eyes would get bloodshot, so it was hard to adjust. But from around the late 2-month point? those symptoms almost disappeared, and now it is stabilizing enough that I feel it is in the process of settling! But medically, this is a natural phenomenon that happens to everyone until the tissue damage cycle (6 months), so it may feel a bit awkward and uncomfortable at first, but I wrote this because I think you do not need to worry too much! (I was flustered at first too.) Above all, if I do not tell people around me, they do not even know I had double eyelid surgery (even a close acquaintance said they just thought my eyes naturally looked like double eyelids). It is not just a polite “it looks natural~,” but it is so natural that they really cannot tell, so personally I do have some parts I feel are lacking, but the reactions around me are really good.. so I am feeling a bit of a contradiction? Of course, during the 3 years I spent researching so much and going through a stressful process, I saw so many failed reviews and successful reviews, so I objectively think it is not bad. But because I have a job where I keep appearing on broadcasts and being captured on camera, the slight parts I feel are lacking keep showing, so every time I see them, personally I feel a little regretful ㅠㅠ Of course, overall I think it was a successful surgery, and the reactions around me are the same, so I do think that is a relief!
2. Conclusion.
In conclusion, I sincerely hope everyone here succeeds and graduates. I too have gotten so much information and reviews from this community, and up to now I have been hearing that it went well without side effects. But I do think the eyes really bring a lot of change to a person’s impression. Before eye surgery, I did hear that my eyes were pretty, but not often. After surgery, even people seeing me for the first time often tell me my eyes are so pretty, and my impression has become softer? more comfortable, so I am personally experiencing that there are definitely advantages in terms of interpersonal relationships. I know well that there are many people here who are looking into revision surgery and struggling because of side effects or personal dissatisfaction. And I have indirectly experienced a lot of how difficult that is, so I think I can relate a lot. I am writing this because I sincerely hope you can graduate, and that your remaining surgeries also succeed so you can live proudly and confidently. In conclusion, the surgery was completed successfully, and although it is slightly disappointing when captured on camera, in real life it seems to be a surgery that turned out well enough to receive the evaluation that it looks very good. I think it would be good to refer to the review below~~!
