★My really detailed rhinoplasty review★ This is.. a little.. embarrassing to share with strangers, but I already went around telling everyone around me that I was getting my nose done, so everyone knows anyway. When I was getting rhinoplasty, I went around with no information at all, so information felt really precious to me. I’m posting this hoping it helps even a little.
▼ Reason for surgery: The director at the ENT clinic in front of my house said my nose had serious functional problems and recommended functional rhinoplasty > since it would be opened anyway, I decided to do cosmetic rhinoplasty too ▼ Surgery date: July 2021 ▼ Original nose shape: Straight nose, not low, had a nasal bridge, but I was told it didn’t look high because the bone was thick (like Miss x Soo x), severe hump, drooping nasal tip I wanted my front view improved. By my standards, I thought my front view looked like a bulbous nose, so I wanted it to become a bit slimmer ▼ Desired nose shape: A very flashy straight-to-slightly-curved nose, a slim nose from the front. I brought celebrity photos and photos of regular people from the internet (influencers) ▼ Clinics consulted: 8 places (all had to be able to do functional surgery, so I consulted clinics that could do functional surgery too, mostly in the Gangnam area) ▼ Reason I chose this clinic: After the consultation, I just kept thinking, “I feel like I’ll end up lying down here,” and I was drawn to it. In the end, I did lie down there ▼ Consultation details: I had a nasal bridge, but because the bone was thick, it didn’t look high, so they would do osteotomy to raise it and insert a little silicone They said it was absolutely not a bulbous nose, and rather it was a small nose, so the moment they made it slimmer, it would become a pinched nose. So they said the current nose shape had to be preserved Functional surgery could be done, but there was an 80-90% chance it would come back. On CT, the nasal septum was extremely deviated (almost like < this) They said it looked very weak. They said they would only know the details after opening it, but they might not even be able to use the septal cartilage, and if it turned out weak or there wasn’t enough usable amount after opening it, they couldn’t use it. They also said there was a high chance it would deviate again >>>>>>>>>>>>> Almost every clinic said this part
The rest differed in terms of shape, surgical method, what materials would be used, etc. ▼ When did I schedule surgery after the consultation?: I asked them to book it as soon as possible, so it was set for 2-3 weeks later ▼ Cost: functional 2.5 million + cosmetic 2.4 million KRW Surgical method: donated costal cartilage + ear cartilage + septal cartilage + silicone + osteotomy ▼ Did it hurt?: Yes, it was so hard. I never want to do it again ▼ Satisfaction with the surgery?: Lower than I expected. First of all, my rhinitis came back as expected. But every clinic had said it would come back, so I understand that part because it can’t be helped. But I wanted a super flashy nose. When I came out after surgery, it was less flashy than I expected. At first it was flashy. As time passed, it came down a lot. Now it’s almost just a natural-looking nose? People around me say it suits my face well and looks like a nose that hasn’t had surgery, and they’re very satisfied with it, but I’m disappointed because the height isn’t that different from my old nose. But I think my skin tissue was weak and my bones were also not very sturdy, so it was probably a nose that couldn’t be raised much. Also, the front view didn’t improve much. I wanted a slim nose, but it’s basically no different from my old nose. It’s just slightly corrected for asymmetry? So I still use editing apps when I take photos lol I wanted to stop using editing apps Still, a lot of people say the side line, the drooping nasal tip + hump + line definitely became prettier. Originally, my hump was really severe and my nasal tip drooped a lot, and it seems those improved a lot. But now whenever I pick my nose, I always have to use a cotton swab And ah, my nose runs more often So my nose runs anytime when I’m outside, which is often awkward. In the past, I could just blow it with tissue or wipe it quickly, but now I can’t shake my nasal tip around, so I have to be careful. I have to go to the bathroom and gently clean it somewhere people can’t see That’s so hard I hate seasonal changes so much I hate rhinitis so much
▼ Do I plan on revision surgery? ▶ No I don’t have money and I don’t want surgery again. I’ll just live like this
It looks high in the photos? ▶ It’s the angle. From some angles it comes out high, and from some directions it comes out low. In real life, it’s more natural
Which photo looks most similar to real life? ▶ The photo with 3 heart stickers on it ▼
