After worrying and giving up multiple times... I researched online, went to consultations at many places, and finally made a big decision to have surgery to become prettier... but after surgery, the overall balance of my face completely collapsed, and instead of becoming prettier, I became less attractive, so it’s hard... (This is based on my own opinion, as well as my family and acquaintances.) My original natural nose was a small, pretty nose where the nostrils were barely visible, but the height was a bit lacking. Even during plastic surgery consultations, some places recommended not doing full surgery and only slightly treating the nasal tip, but at the time, I don’t know what got into me... I had already paid a deposit, and I felt like I should do it, so I went ahead with my first surgery without thinking more. (I guess I naturally thought I would become prettier and that it wouldn’t go wrong... based on what...???) Since it is the front of the face, I should have looked into it carefully, chosen materials, researched surgical methods, and thought through everything in detail... Because of a judgment mistake, I created something I’ll regret until the moment before I die.
At the hospital I chose, they insisted on costal cartilage, and even though it was my first surgery... it seemed excessive... but I wondered if my nose was insufficient with ear cartilage or septal cartilage, and since it was a hospital I had chosen with difficulty, I had the surgery. When I asked the hospital, they said they used donated costal cartilage + ear cartilage + septal cartilage. (During the final consultation right before surgery, unlike what they had initially said, they suddenly recommended mesh, so I was completely shocked and said absolutely, absolutely not, but there’s no way to know whether they used it or notㅡ.. If it comes out later during removal, I’ll have to turn the hospital upside down, right..?)
Because costal cartilage was used, my nose doesn’t move when I smile, yawn, sneeze, or make facial expressions, and it feels fixed, uncomfortable, and like a foreign body.. My small nose swelled up into such a big nose (it was originally a small nose, but I had lived without realizing it was small; after the swelling went down, it became even smaller), the height didn’t increase much, and my nostrils show a lot.. The surgery was already over... At the hospital, as expected: swelling swelling swelling swelling swelling!! Wait a little more, after 3 months, after 6 months (the hospitals all have the same script..) In my opinion, “it will come down” = subtle, almost no difference. Of course, there are people whose nose visibly comes down, but in my case, maybe they fixed it well, because it isn’t coming down.
The surgery can’t be undone now, and I’m looking into removalㅠㅠ I only found out after surgery that I can’t return to my natural nose after removal, and you really need to listen when people around you try to stop youㅠㅠ (Though at the time, you probably won’t hear it... please think about it once more.)
If it’s your first surgery, I absolutely do not recommend costal cartilage (autologous costal cartilage or donated costal cartilage)..... I had surgery without knowing it would be this uncomfortable, and the doctor said that with time I would even be able to make a pig nose, but thinking about it now, how could this nose possibly become a pig nose? It’s absurd........ It’s all because I didn’t look into it more.. I can’t blame anyone. I voluntarily lay down on the operating table, and I can’t turn back time..
Unless it’s truly unavoidable, such as a broken bone or injury, an unpleasant crooked nose, a compressed nose, a severe hump nose, no nostrils, or you truly, truly hate your face so much that you don’t even want to look in the mirror, I wrote this hoping you will think carefully and carefully once again before getting rhinoplastyㅠ
Looking at surgeries around me, if when the splint is removed the nostrils are not uneven and it’s just slightly crooked?? or maybe not??, or there is an indentation line remaining on the bridge, it seems swelling can resolve up to that point. But when the splint is removed and it’s like, huh?? what’s with the nostrils, the open-incision stitches were sewn wrong, the nasal bridge is crooked like a zigzag, and things are seriously bad like that, I think you absolutely, absolutely need to challenge it and ask questionsㅠㅠ From that initial shape, even if it changes, it never changes dramatically into a huge before-and-after difference.
