A lot of people say, right after LASEK, “I got a new life!” but honestly, I didn’t feel that. That’s because the gritty feeling after wearing contacts and the dryness so bad that I wanted to take my eyeballs out and wash them were felt exactly the same right after LASEK while the wounds were healing. Still, the fact that I don’t need contacts when traveling, and that glasses are no longer needed in my life, was very nice. The pain for 4 to 5 days right after LASEK was the worst pain of my life, so if I knew and had to do it again, I couldn’t. But now I think it was a good choice. I live with artificial tears because of dry eye syndrome, a side effect of LASEK, but I’m happier than when I had to live with contacts + glasses!
