Nose Re-Surgery

Review of infected nose removal surgery (4 months)

Before surgery, I used to check this community every day, but after surgery I stopped coming I’m leaving this review in case it helps! Ten years ago, I had a hump shaved down and Gore-Tex inserted. I liked my nose itself, and it was fairly high, but I had to have it urgently removed after taking antibiotics for inflammation. Overall, I’m satisfied that I had it removed!! I wrote this after surgery: Day 1: No swelling yet, and thanks to the painkillers it didn’t hurt much. I applied cold packs frequently and slept sitting up with three pillows. Since it was summer, I ignored it, but even with a humidifier and a moisturizing mask, breathing through my mouth made it dry, so I could barely sleep and woke up every hour; that was the biggest pain. A straw is essential when drinking water (with a cup, the gauze blocks your view and it is inconvenient). Day 2: My eyes were extremely swollen, enough to feel it when I opened them. The bruising spread and the swelling felt at its peak. I worked hard on cold packs. Day 3: I went to have the cotton removed. Once it was out, I felt like I could live again because I could breathe through my nose. There was still quite a lot of swelling, but the bruising had faded considerably and my nose gradually began to feel tight. Day 4: It was quite swollen when I woke up, but by afternoon I could gradually see the swelling going down. The pulling sensation across the bridge became increasingly noticeable. Days 5–6: The swelling and bruising around my eyes were barely visible. I probably could have gone to work if I hadn’t had the splint. There was still tightness across the bridge. Day 7: Splint removal and columella suture removal. I remember the suture removal hurting before, but this time it didn’t hurt at all. The first day I saw my nose, I was shocked^^.. I understood why people call it a mermaid face. There was still swelling, and they said it would look lower once it went down That’s what I wrote then. After the splint was removed, the swelling gradually subsided and it kept improving! Many people didn’t even know I’d had surgery, and close friends said it looked natural and turned out very well. I lost the refined feeling I had before, but I’m satisfied because I no longer have to worry about inflammation and the tight sensation has greatly improved. I was extremely worried before surgery, but it seems people whose surgery goes well really don’t write posts.. I wanted to write this to tell you not to worry too much.
