Before <Before liposuction> After <After liposuction, currently I have lost a bit more than this.> Hello, it has now been about a month since I received liposuction, and I remembered that I got a lot of help through this community, so although this is lacking, I am posting a small review.
Actually, I am a foreigner (please understand if the readability of my writing is a little poor ^^), and I was not someone who had previously thought positively about cosmetic procedures or surgery, but as I approached thirty, no matter how much I managed myself and exercised, belly fat was always a concern. So if not for the issue of side effects, I had been thinking that I wanted to get liposuction. As COVID dragged on and I gained even more weight, my confidence dropped. My husband thought hard about it and researched for a long time, then narrowed it down to a few hospitals, and in the end I had surgery at ㄱㄹㅂ in Apgujeong.
First, my husband recently had nose surgery at this place, and the result was amazing, but above all, they took really good care of him afterward, which was why we decided. Since Korea has such a high level of plastic surgery surgeons, honestly, the places my husband narrowed it down to at the end would probably all have been fine, but he said that more than the surgery itself, there would be no place as kind and professional as this hospital when it came to postoperative care, so I decided very quickly.
The doctor who performed the surgery was Dr. ㄴㅅㅈ at ㄱㄹㅂ. At the first consultation, he palpated the abdominal area and asked about my target weight loss. After that, he set the target lower than I had expected, but from the beginning, other Korean friends around me who had liposuction had told me that I should place more meaning on shaping the line than on the number of kilograms itself. So I was honest with him, but I did not have huge expectations...
Now, at the one-month mark, I have lost more than the weight the doctor had suggested! Even though after surgery I was in too much pain and did not do serious dietary control for recovery, it is satisfying to the naked eye, and my weight itself dropped more than expected. I think this was even more so because the operating doctor set the target from a more conservative standpoint compared with other hospitals. (When doing liposuction, I think it may be better to filter out hospitals that set too high a target and only say overly good things. As I seriously considered surgery this time and looked into it, I had vaguely thought that liposuction would be easier and safer compared with other cosmetic surgeries, but I heard that it is highly affected by the skill of the operating doctor, and since the area the cannula touches is not actually operated on while visually confirming it, it can unexpectedly be dangerous for doctors without much experience.)
Even when I was at my thinnest in my early twenties, I was always not satisfied with my waist, but now I even have the expectation that once recovery is complete and I exercise a bit more, I might be able to see my abdominal muscles to some extent in about a year. Of course, if you want a truly dramatic change, liposuction may be more dependent on your own effort than other cosmetic surgeries. It may sound like I am only talking about good points, but I think it can help people who do not have enough time to lose weight purely through exercise, or people who are dissatisfied with their body shape itself from the start, like me.
However, to be honest, even if you are discharged on the same day, for at least the first week, unless you have a purely office-based desk job where you can work without moving, I think it would be difficult to return perfectly to daily life right away. I did not record the first two days in detail, but even barely bumping into the bed frame made me curse, and I could not even hold my dog. Maybe because it overlapped with my menstrual period at the time, a watery fluid mixed with tumescent solution kept coming out, so I had to keep changing pads. No matter how tightly you schedule the surgery, I think you need to rest at home for the first two to three days... I am originally the type who complains a lot about pain, but even now it hurts when I change compression garments. If there is a hospital that says during consultation that it will not hurt after about a week, do not believe that. lol Liposuction is actually not a type of surgery where the method changes greatly by style like nose surgery or facial contouring surgery, so I recommend choosing a place that feels safe and honest. I was in so much pain during the recovery period and my personality is naturally more text-oriented, so I did not take many of the photos I had wanted to take so badly, but if anyone has questions, I will check the comments occasionally and reply as much as I know.
After a few more weeks, when my condition gets a bit better, I will also post a second review.
