It was the winter when I was 19. A review of knowing nothing, walking into a plastic surgery clinic I saw in Dongseong-ro, Daegu, getting a consultation for one day, and choosing the hospital
First of all, I had monolids without much fat, and whenever people around me tried putting double-eyelid tape or double-eyelid glue on me, every single one of them told me double eyelids didn’t suit me and that I shouldn’t do it. I also wondered if monolids were the best option for me, so although I wanted double eyelids, I gave up on it. But I definitely thought I lacked the strength to open my eyelids, and while browsing the internet, I saw that monolid ptosis correction existed, so I started visiting plastic surgery clinics.
When I actually went, they said there wasn’t really monolid ptosis correction, but that they would do ptosis correction by making a very thin inner double eyelid. I thought if I was going to make an inner double eyelid, regular double eyelids would be better, so I asked the doctor to create a line for me. As expected, maybe my eyes just didn’t suit double eyelids, because even after trying various lines, all of them made my eyes look a bit too intense and greasy.
So, half resigned, with absolutely no prior research, I called every clinic sign I saw and asked if they could do a consultation right then; if they said yes, I went in. That’s how I ended up finding the hospital where I had surgery.
But while the director was trying various lines for me, he suddenly held one specific line, and it made my eyes look refreshed without being too much? He found a line that suited my face, so it felt like I had found the light. It was non-incisional, and he said they used dissolvable sutures so I wouldn’t have to come back separately to have stitches removed. Since I was scared of stitch removal, I chose the hospital based only on those two things: the line and the dissolvable sutures.
Even now, I think my current eyes are better than when I had monolids, but maybe my body metabolizes local anesthesia quickly. After finishing the ptosis correction on the right side and near the end of doing the left side, maybe the anesthesia wore off, because it started hurting and I cried. The director finished the surgery, but somehow the correction on my left eye feels a bit looser than the right? That’s the feeling I get...
Still, I’m living okay enough, and seeing that my mom also went to this same hospital where I had mine done, got a brow lift, and is living satisfied with it, I think he does have skill...
Since it was non-incisional, if it comes undone later, I’ll find a hospital that suits me again then and ask them to make the anesthesia strong. For now, I’m thinking about fixing something else~~~
Oh, I think my swelling lasted longer than other people’s. It was my fault, but because it was hard to do cold compresses in winter, I didn’t do compresses much.
I think people considering surgery should be diligent with compresses.
