For those who have made a big decision to have surgery, I’ll briefly summarize the process. Before surgery, don’t think about dieting and eat well. From fasting before surgery through about 1 week after, you basically can’t eat anything, so you need strength to endure. The surgery itself was fine because it was just over when I woke up, but as I’d heard, general anesthesia was so hard. When you wake up from anesthesia, you’re so sleepy, your throat feels like it’s being torn, so you want to drink water, but you absolutely can’t sleep (you need to keep breathing deeply to expel the anesthetic gas), and you can’t drink water for 4 hours... This is hell... I was thinking, what kind of great glory am I trying to enjoy that I’m doing this while crying haha After 4 hours, they give you an ion drink, so you can start drinking then! Before you know it, a day passes and you’re discharged. First, you swell the most until day 3, to the point where you think, wow, this really isn’t it, is my face going to burst? It’s normal... In this situation, until week 1 you can only eat liquids like soy milk, and you can’t brush your teeth either It’s the saddest period Make sure to take your medicine well and gargle often! By week 2, the major swelling starts to go down little by little, you receive high-frequency care provided by the hospital, and although your mouth doesn’t open much, you start cutting and mashing whatever you can eat, gradually living like a human again. And up to 1-2 months, I was really stressed because of the swelling, but after that I let it go and lived my life. It really goes down little by little (but please note that for me, the bruising also lasted a long time and I’m the type whose swelling lasted a long time)! Now I’m at 7 months, and it has gone down so much that I’m surprised it could go down this much..! Don’t worry too much, everyone. Time is the medicine, so just waiting will be easier on your mind
I’m now slowly meeting acquaintances again after a long time, and everyone doesn’t know I had surgery and says, “Huh? Did you lose a lot of weight? Why did you get so pretty?” so I feel very proud
Lastly, as someone who thinks it’s very important to be able to stay in contact with the hospital after surgery, I was very happy and grateful that communication was smooth even after surgery. Until 2 months post-op, I messaged the consultant on KakaoTalk an enormous amount..! In the beginning, symptoms like bleeding (it was pooled blood coming out), sensory changes in the skin around the cheekbone area, throbbing bone pain... and so on, even with tiny symptoms that can happen after surgery, I was so frightened and scared that I contacted her very often, and the consultant always replied right away and kindly without ever seeming annoyed, so I was able to endure that difficult time. It’s a truly important part, just as important as the surgery itself, so when considering facial contouring surgery, please make sure to check this too!!
