A consultation-tour review I’m writing for my own record + in case it helps Please note in advance that this is a very personal review! I’ll write casually in a shortened style!
Natural adhesion (buried suture) / incision - no preference Mongolian fold O, ptosis O (because of ptosis, I was even considering ptosis correction and forehead lift) Eyelid sagging (it was hard to tell whether this was fat, drooping eyelid skin, or thick skin) In-out or semi-out + my horizontal eye length is short, so I wanted canthoplasty (but I was willing to change depending on feasibility)
↑ My eye condition and desired style were like this, but I didn’t have anything especially firm in mind... (that’s just my personality) I’d thought about wanting double eyelids for over 10 years, but I only seriously searched for about a week... I went around for consultations at 4 places on the same day + 1 place the next day (recommended right before deciding). Maybe because the consultations were on weekdays, most reservations were made quickly! Visit order: 1->2->3->4->(next day)5
1. Dㅇㅇ (Gangnam)
In-out O / incision / ptosis correction X / additional canthoplasty (epicanthoplasty, lateral-lower canthoplasty) / forgot to ask surgery time A/S period: 1 year Postoperative care types: swelling laser, swelling injection, scar injection, etc. Deposit pressure O (they said if I didn’t transfer the deposit right away, it would be hard to apply the discounted price later -> after visiting all the others, I requested a refund) Total consultation time (including waiting): about 30 minutes
There were many plastic surgeons. They drew the line about 3 times with something like a wooden chopstick, but didn’t even tell me to check it in the mirror and just looked by themselves. Even though I said I had signs of ptosis, they didn’t check that part and only said ptosis correction wasn’t needed. This was the place where the consultation ended the fastest, and since the consultant pressured me for a deposit, even though it was my first visit, I excluded this place in my mind. Since it was my first consultation and first visit, I also couldn’t ask comfortably

Private clinic. After taking photos, they printed the photos and checked my condition. I liked that the consultation itself was kind and fun. After checking for ptosis, they talked about ptosis correction. Since I had expected ptosis correction, it didn’t feel forced, and I liked that they explained it. They asked what style I wanted, checked the photos I brought, and tried to match them as much as possible. They made lines in the order of inline - in-out - semi-out and let me choose the line I wanted. The director seemed to have pride in eye surgery. The fact that it contrasted so much with the clinic I had just visited made it feel especially good.
3. Theㅇㅇ (Gangnam)

This had the longest wait time (waited over 30 minutes). The doctor seemed to have just come from surgery, and this was the place where I liked the consultant consultation the least. Regarding ptosis, they repeatedly confirmed my eyelid thickness and lack of eye-opening strength, and explained it the most carefully. There was no pressure, but when I asked questions, they said things like “You don’t really need it~” and “You don’t have to do it~,” so I wasn’t sure whether they wanted to sell or not... it was ambiguous...
4. ㅇㅇㅌ (Apgujeong)

Two-doctor clinic. Their opinions were the complete opposite of all the clinics I had visited before, so I was very taken aback... They said since it was my first surgery, there was no need to do incision, and that in-out or semi-out would make my eyes look sausage-like because my eyelids are thick. Even though I told them the eyes and style I wanted and showed photos, they said things like it would be meaningless even if I did it, it would be useless, it wouldn’t come out like that, and it would loosen quickly, so it was hard to tell whether they were really recommending what suited my eyes. On the other hand, this was the place where I liked the consultant consultation the most. They explained sleep anesthesia, side effects, A/S, postoperative care types, etc. before I even asked, so I had nothing extra to ask.
5. ㄹㅍ (Apgujeong) (I was originally going to choose among the 4 above, but got introduced and went)

Private clinic. After taking photos, they checked them on a tablet. This was the place where the director’s consultation was the kindest and most detailed. The director first explained the surgery time, side effects, etc. They checked for ptosis and showed me before-and-after eyes on the monitor from people with eyes similar to mine who had the same surgical method. But they mentioned eye fat repositioning, which I hadn’t been thinking about... probably because my dark circles are severe... The consultant was also kind, and since the director had already explained everything about the surgery, they explained things like the visit schedule.
I wrote this based on notebook memos + memory. Regarding lateral canthoplasty, they said it can’t be done if there isn’t space in the eyes, so I asked everywhere, and they all commonly said I had eyes with enough space for lateral canthoplasty. All consultation fees were X (5 had a consultation fee, but since I went through an introduction, consultation fee X). Some places told me about discount benefits (review writing, photo shoot, etc.), but there was no pressure.
I debated a lot between 2 and 5. Pros of 2> I liked the line they made the most. Cons> The most expensive among the places I toured!!! No separate same-day or cash-price discount.
Pros of 5> Legendary kindness, and the most thorough and detailed. Calm and clean clinic interior. Cons> I had to wait about 2-3 weeks to have surgery.
Because I wanted surgery on the earliest possible date, after visiting 5, I had a second consultation at 2 -> paid the deposit + set the surgery date. If I’d had more time, I might have thought about it more.......
