About 2 Months After Abdominal Liposuction

Hello I’ve been busy, and it’s already been about two months since the surgery. I had the surgery in early November, but while messaging a friend earlier, my daily life has been so hectic that I almost thought I had the surgery around late summer. Haha. First, compared with the very dramatic change at the beginning, this month it looks a little swollen (if you’re curious about that, please refer to my previous post…). At this timing, saying it’s temporary swelling from tumescent fluid or the surgical area would probably just be an excuse…

To be honest, I let my guard down for a bit, and since work has been so busy, I was lacking in diet management. I’m originally introverted and feel very embarrassed taking body photos, but I worried that if I didn’t leave this as a public record, I’d go back to my old ways without any reflection, so I decided to record it for now. To get myself back into better-managed shape next month, I think I need to leave a record somewhere everyone can see so I’ll reflect and try harder. Still, one encouraging point is that compared with how inconsistent my management has been, my abdomen doesn’t seem to gain fat as quickly as before after the surgery? Haha. Also, when I checked with a body fat scale, my fat percentage hadn’t increased much.

At Glovi, where I had the surgery, three sessions of ultrasound care were included as standard. It was already written in the contract and explained when I decided on the surgery, but I only remembered it when I went for aftercare, and the consultant took good care of it. I think it was December 8 when I received the final third treatment. My husband did lymphatic massage with lotion for me every night, but it couldn’t beat the efficiency of a machine. I feel sorry to my hardworking husband, but after receiving ultrasound care, the pain I mentioned in my first post and the foreign-body sensation from the bio-bond improved noticeably. Of course, the bio-bond and the strange feeling that my belly didn’t feel like my own flesh haven’t completely disappeared, but compared with last month, when even lightly bumping into the bed frame made me curse, it’s a huge change. It may not have been easy to tell from the photos in my first post, but I can feel that the bumpy bio-bond in various areas is disappearing a lot. After the final ultrasound, Director Nam Sang-jae, who performed the surgery, checked me and said I had recovered enough to start exercising again. I should have started exercising right then… that’s the one point I’m disappointed in myself about. Actually, my husband also had liposuction at the same hospital, and even though we eat junk food together, oddly, my husband’s abdominal contours are clear. I think constitution makes a big difference. Except for the fact that Glovi is far from our home, the aftercare and the parts they initially promised were not different, so I’m congratulating myself that I probably didn’t choose the wrong hospital. I had been really worried because I’d heard so many stories from people around me about hospitals acting differently before and after payment for surgery.

My personal complaining got too long. Actually, after the first month, my waist circumference was something I had never experienced in my life, so to be honest, I’m still personally satisfied now. My husband also said while taking photos for me that I definitely gained less weight compared with before surgery. When I looked at the amount of fat aspirated with Director Nam, it was clearly a lot, but if you let your guard down too much, it really happens in an instant again. Above all, the cannula marks I had worried about at the time of surgery and the bruises that had remained for a long time in various parts of my body have all disappeared. And this may not have a direct relationship and may just be psychological, but should I say my digestion feels better than before? It felt like my body had become inefficient at storing fat.

P.S.1 Since I thought I should write something that could help, I’ll add one thing. As I wrote in my previous post, liposuction has pain issues, so while surgical skill itself is important, when choosing a hospital, please make sure to check whether ultrasound is included in the aftercare.

Actually, pain is secondary, and they say bio-bond does not form in a strange shape only when ultrasound care, continuous lymphatic massage, and aftercare are done well. Don’t just think, “Of course ultrasound will be included with liposuction,” and make sure to ask. During consultation visits, a few other hospitals told me they currently couldn’t use ultrasound machines because of COVID… It was a hard-to-believe excuse, and I don’t know what it has to do with COVID, but it wasn’t just one hospital; several hospitals really gave the same excuse and said ultrasound wasn’t available. There really are hospitals that don’t provide ultrasound, so look into it carefully.

P.S.2

It definitely improved after ultrasound. After work, I came home last night and did Just Dance, and I didn’t feel much difference compared with before surgery. While writing and revising this month’s post, I looked at the abdomen photos I took, and if the cost allows, I still think liposuction is a surgery worth recommending. Even for me, someone who has a skeptical view of cosmetic procedures overall, the efficiency is clear compared with the possibility of side effects.
