My eyes before were narrow, shell-like eyes, so I was stressed and ended up getting posterior and lower canthoplasty. As you know, posterior and lower canthoplasty tends to reattach so much that I wondered if there was any point in paying for it and even ending up with scars, but at Girin, it seemed like they make an incision and remove something? so they said the structure makes it impossible to reattach, so I went for a consultation.
Regarding the consultation and reservation, I felt the system was a bit lacking. I have gone to consultations at many places and had surgeries at many different hospitals, but it was the first time I got a call after my reservation was already completed saying, “Your reservation is for day 0 at 0 o’clock, right? But you can’t come then, what should we do?”
It wasn’t because of the director’s circumstances or anything, it seemed like there had just been a system mistake, but my reservation was suddenly changed. It was hard to adjust anything before or after, and the only two options were to just push the date back indefinitely or go at the time they wanted, so I called all the other hospitals and adjusted all my other appointments that day, then visited at the time GR wanted. There was no choice from the start Out of the dozens of hospitals I have consulted at or had procedures at for liposuction, filler, double eyelid surgery, epicanthoplasty, posterior canthoplasty, eye shape correction, and all sorts of things, there were exactly two hospitals where I felt the system was lacking: DDK and GR.
When you visit, they keep telling you two or three times to watch the hospital’s YouTube while making you wait. I had visited after urgently adjusting other plans, so I was already dying from being busy because my schedule got pushed It felt like they were including the time spent watching the hospital YouTube in the waiting time, so I declined and said if there was necessary information, I would look it up myself after going home. [I looked at home and didn’t look it up. There wasn’t really any information that could only be satisfied by watching YouTube. It was basically just seeing post-op eye swelling in videos, and I had already seen that in this community before going.]
As for the surgery, the director and nurses were systematic and professional, so the surgery ended well without anything particularly uncomfortable. Since I had been told in advance, I wasn’t too surprised by the severe conjunctival edema and such. The opening seems to have been made well, but I’m worried because it feels a bit overly opened. Still, I haven’t even had the stitches removed yet, and like any surgery, swelling and settling take time, so I’m watching a little longer thinking it’ll be okay.
During the consultation, the director listened well to what I wanted and seemed to understand it well, so I felt confident before the surgery. I’m anxious now, but I’m trusting the progress and waiting I had the first stitches removed, so the conjunctival edema seems to be going down a bit. I hope later, after the second stitches are removed too, it settles more and I get a good result.
