I lived with completely monolid eyes, then recently got inspired, had a consultation, and quickly went ahead with surgery. Even with monolids, I didn’t notice much in selfies because I deliberately opened my eyes wide, but in ID photos they definitely looked closed-in. I didn’t want a large out-fold; I wanted a natural result that retained the clean, understated feel of monolids. I only had consultations at two places. The first was well-known, but they didn’t understand my desired direction at all. At the second clinic, they tried to reflect my aesthetic preferences, the photos I brought, and my opinions as much as possible, so I felt reassured and decided on surgery. It has been one month, and the inner double eyelid has settled nicely. My eyes open more easily than when I had monolids, and I no longer need to lift my forehead to open them. My eyes look bigger and match the image I wanted, so I’m happy.
