Nose Surgery Reviews

Two-week review after revision rhinoplasty following L-shaped silicone removal

This was my third revision rhinoplasty. My previous surgeries weren’t because of complications; during my first surgery, the hospital suggested replacing the silicone, so they opened my nose twice, and only recently did I discover that an L-shaped silicone implant had been placed without my knowing. My last surgery was about 12 years ago when I was a student T_T After that, my tip drooped somewhat and I disliked the shape because the starting point of my bridge was too high, so I began looking into surgery. I wanted to lower the starting point of the nose and improve the sunken midface area. My original nose was also very short and thick, with a bulbous, upturned appearance. Since I wanted this to be my final surgery, I used autologous costal cartilage. I also had silicone for the bridge, columella lowering, short-nose correction, nasolabial-angle correction, and two procedures for rhinitis. I liked that they identified these points, discussed them with me, and helped design the result as close as possible to what I wanted. I also liked the doctor’s aesthetic sense and philosophy, and decided on surgery because there was an anesthesiologist present. It hasn’t even been a year and there is still swelling, but my nostrils are symmetrical, and I have no symptoms such as deviation or inflammation. Most importantly, the areas I wanted improved have improved, which makes me happy. Everyone, including the doctor, was kind, so I felt much less anxious before and after surgery. I hope more time passes and the swelling goes down further. I hope this helps everyone who is deliberating.
