For reference, I was someone who was really stressed because of a bulbous nose, and I’m not sure if it shows in the pre-op photos, but my nostrils were thick too, and overall, rather than a feminine image, my nose was closer to a masculine image. It was worse from the side. The most important thing with nose surgery was getting rid of the bulbous nose, but above all, I didn’t want the line from the nasal bridge to the nasal tip to look thick. People often talk about things like a lion nose or Avatar nose. When looking at the overall proportions too, I thought a slim, refined-looking nose was prettier. So during the consultation, I strongly emphasized this point too.
This was a place I visited because I heard they were good at correcting bulbous noses, and the director said that to make the nostrils look smaller, I would need nostril reduction. I also said it was okay because as long as the bulbous look could definitely be corrected, I had already made up my mind to do whatever procedure was needed. For the nasal tip, only septal cartilage and ear cartilage were used to raise the tip, and silicone was also inserted in the nasal bridge! I thought that if I had surgery without it, uneven steps might form.
In the beginning, when I had the splint on, honestly the stuffiness was greater than I expected, so for a very brief moment I even regretted getting nose surgery. But once the splint was removed at one week, it became much easier to live from then on. Because I kept consciously breathing only through my mouth, my throat was sore too, but after the splint was removed, I think I was able to recover well without any major discomfort.
Around one to two weeks after surgery, it was hard to tell whether the nose turned out well because of swelling, but as I entered week 3 and the major swelling went down completely and I could see the nose line, I think my satisfaction gradually increased from then on. Now it’s one month after surgery, and since they said the swelling can still slowly settle for up to half a year, I plan to keep watching it steadily. I also got nostril reduction together, and I’m satisfied because it doesn’t look obviously surgical and wasn’t overdone.
At the hospital, they told me that for one month after nose surgery, it’s best to be careful even with facial expressions and to make sure nothing hits the nose, so even when I went walking to reduce swelling, I was careful not to injure my nose lol I did all the care I could as much as possible, but looking back now, I think getting the surgery done well from the start is more important than aftercare. I’m relieved that my current nose was designed well with a slim shape; otherwise, I think I would have regretted that it still looked thick. Above all, it’s good to make sure the director can design it well according to what you say.
