After after after after after after after before before before<Before surgery> I had functional and appearance-related complexes from malocclusion for a long time I had orthodontic treatment once during my school days, but it didn't improve, so I decided to get double jaw surgery! Before getting double jaw surgery, I looked up a huge amount of related information about double jaw surgery. Because it's a surgery you only do once, and it's important.! So I searched YouTube a lot, and while searching, maybe because I watched a lot of EU YouTube videos haha, I got my first consultation at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery! After that, I also had consultations at other hospitals, but EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery felt the most trustworthy, and the consultant and Director Shin kindly consulted with me, so I think that's why I decided on double jaw surgery~
To share day 1 after surgery,,, the surgical sites hurt less than I expected, but I only felt nauseated(?) in my stomach. They did say day 1 is the hardest,, but since I expected it, I think it was okay in its own way.
On day 2, I felt much better than day 1! The nausea also went away a lot~ But I remember having a bit of trouble because I couldn't swallow saliva well;;^^
On day 3, I was discharged from the hospital, and there wasn't anything that was as hard as I expected Thinking about it now, honestly, if you just get through day 1 of double jaw surgery.. everything seems okay Compared to before, it feels like heaven! I think I only kept thinking that I wanted one month to pass quickly so I could take out the wafer.
On day 4, I finally removed the band around my mouth and took a shower,,, I remember it felt so refreshing! Other than being hungry but not being able to eat what I wanted, there wasn't much major discomfort~ They said I had to wear the compression band for a week, and I only thought about wanting to take it off quickly~
On days 5/6, I also walked for about 20 minutes, and now moving around wasn't that hard anymore, so I could feel that I was getting better than expected! I could only think about wanting to eat something delicious quickly..
Finally day 7! I can feel that the swelling has gone down a lot compared to the first day!! Still, there is still a lot of major swelling left, so I hope it all goes down quickly! I go for a progress check in week 2, and it was the first time I looked forward to going to the hospital this much
When I went for the 2-week progress check, the swelling had gone down a lot again in that one week, and I was worried because I heard removing the stitches hurts a lot, but it didn't hurt as much as I expected haha. The hospital told me to do mouth-opening exercises consistently, so I remember practicing a lot consistently~
The long-awaited week 3. Now I think about 90% of the sensation has come back! Now when I go outside, I can briefly take out the wafer, so it's convenient, and for meals I'm eating things I can swallow without chewing, like risotto or ramen haha It's only week 3, but as time passes, I'm curious how my facial lines will change!
